That's the fictional flag. A long john silver or blackbeard type pirate is much better than that abomination.
eh? The Jolly Roger was known to have been used by pirates.

i beg to differ re logo. Lends itself well to the digital logos now a days. Just needs to be cleaner like mine rather than the the overly busy one they currently use,

To go with this idea in this simplified era of logos we have presently, you're basically asking for another logo that looks like Canberra's Mr.Beardy but with an eye patch and maybe a parrot.

A piratty-looking skull universally is recognised as implying a pirate, and I agree with PerthRed that a more simplified version is what's needed going forward. I also did my own version of it sometime ago when I proposed the WC Pirates bid should tweak their colours and logo. See attached.

Keep in mind it was kind of a quick effort and I never got back to finalising my designs!

That abomination of a logo is not the jolly roger. If you want to attract 4 year olds who will lose interest by the time they're 6 year olds mr scary skull is perfect.

Either use the classic skull and crossbones or a pirate.

That is very good mate. I think if a WA side got in, the colours should be predominantly yellow and black

Nice logo and jersey designs. I like that gold shade

Personally, Pirates just doesn’t cut it for me. It’s an alliteration which is about as relevant to Perth as the Perth Pandas would be.

I suggested Perth Venom, at least that is relevant. Perth Reds would still be my choice.

WA had Australias only recognised pirate. It has more relevance than Vikings in canberra or broncos in brisbane.
two wrongs, don’t make a right.

I think we’ve grown from the days of just choosing random mascots and people want to be represented properly.

I don’t think the pirate in question was West Australian, he never settled in Perth and I don’t think he is someone who should necessarily be heralded by way of a sporting team’s mascot.

We accept everyone here lol
id prefer reds to return but also like pirates, it’s incredibly marketable And unique in Australian pro sport. Merch sales will be off the charts and game day experience can be themed to be great fun.

If you mean Dampier, it would not be long before someone brought up the appalling views he had about aborigines. Not a good role model
Dampier was a buccaneer, we got a black fella as our pirate. All about inclusion out west.
But kind of missing the point. Just as Canberrans arent too worried about their logo representing rapist mass murdering marauders I don’t suppose the kids playing capt Jack dress up will be worrying about the reality of 18th century pirates

That’s fair enough too

Western Swans. Black swan on a yellow background. Done.
Cant use "swans"... sydney have that in AFL, not sure if people noticed but for the last idk 20 years there have been lawsuits on sporting mascots at a constant, which means everytime someone has a great club name/logo/mascot it gets challenged by the NFL version of it, or other codes etc
The classic was one regarding the titans getting both miami dolphins and redcliffe upset that they were looking to go with gold coast dolphins, before titans ended up being it..
So i don't think swans will cut it, but i do like it
