That's the fictional flag. A long john silver or blackbeard type pirate is much better than that abomination. You don’t understand the connection between the skull and cross bones and pirates?

eh? The Jolly Roger was known to have been used by pirates. That's the fictional flag. A long john silver or blackbeard type pirate is much better than that abomination.

It was done by the same guy who dId the titans logo, and it shows. They need to go with a simple skull and cross bones like mine that can stand alone without words and translates well to digital use.Agreed. It seems a bit tacky
To go with this idea in this simplified era of logos we have presently, you're basically asking for another logo that looks like Canberra's Mr.Beardy but with an eye patch and maybe a parrot. That's the fictional flag. That abomination of a logo is not the jolly roger. If you want to attract 4 year olds who will lose interest by the time they're 6 year olds mr scary skull is perfect.eh? The Jolly Roger was known to have been used by pirates.
i beg to differ re logo. Lends itself well to the digital logos now a days. Just needs to be cleaner like mine rather than the the overly busy one they currently use,

A piratty-looking skull universally is recognised as implying a pirate, and I agree with PerthRed that a more simplified version is what's needed going forward. I also did my own version of it sometime ago when I proposed the WC Pirates bid should tweak their colours and logo. See attached.

Keep in mind it was kind of a quick effort and I never got back to finalising my designs!
That is very good mate. I think if a WA side got in, the colours should be predominantly yellow and black
Nice logo and jersey designs. I like that gold shadeTo go with this idea in this simplified era of logos we have presently, you're basically asking for another logo that looks like Canberra's Mr.Beardy but with an eye patch and maybe a parrot.

WA had Australias only recognised pirate. It has more relevance than Vikings in canberra or broncos in brisbane.Personally, Pirates just doesn’t cut it for me. It’s an alliteration which is about as relevant to Perth as the Perth Pandas would be.
I suggested Perth Venom, at least that is relevant. Perth Reds would still be my choice.
two wrongs, don’t make a right.WA had Australias only recognised pirate. It has more relevance than Vikings in canberra or broncos in brisbane.
We accept everyone here loltwo wrongs, don’t make a right.
I think we’ve grown from the days of just choosing random mascots and people want to be represented properly.
I don’t think the pirate in question was West Australian, he never settled in Perth and I don’t think he is someone who should necessarily be heralded by way of a sporting team’s mascot.
Dampier was a buccaneer, we got a black fella as our pirate. All about inclusion out west.If you mean Dampier, it would not be long before someone brought up the appalling views he had about aborigines. Not a good role model
That’s fair enough tooDampier was a buccaneer, we got a black fella as our pirate. All about inclusion out west.
But kind of missing the point. Just as Canberrans arent too worried about their logo representing rapist mass murdering marauders I don’t suppose the kids playing capt Jack dress up will be worrying about the reality of 18th century pirates
Cant use "swans"... sydney have that in AFL, not sure if people noticed but for the last idk 20 years there have been lawsuits on sporting mascots at a constant, which means everytime someone has a great club name/logo/mascot it gets challenged by the NFL version of it, or other codes etcWestern Swans. Black swan on a yellow background. Done.
