I find his reasoning behind that statement more interesting.

"there are no frontrunners because expansion is not on the agenda at the moment."

Is that the only reason Graham? So if expansion was on the agenda they would be?

What agenda are we talking about Graham? the next agenda? cause obviously that would be putting the IC in place or are we talking about agendas over the next few years? in that case you are clearly lying through your teeth Graham.

So 24 hours ago, there is a media article where Annesley is indirectly quoted as saying that the CC bid was "superior" which caused much circle jerking amongst the CC cheersquad...

Now he has distanced himself from that with direct quotes, and you are saying that he is "lying through his teeth:" and its a "bullsh*t call"

Jaysus...

So what would you have him say:
a) the Bears are lying - a lie that kills the Bears
b) the Bears are correct - a truth that kills the QLD bids
c) a politicians answer - offend no-one, can't recall anything from 2 weeks ago, smooth the waters, keep all bidders hanging!

He never denied anything from what was said yesterday, so be obviously said it.

To say that Expansion is not on the agenda is utter crap. If it wasn't on the agenda we wouldn't have four bids and we wouldn't have one of those bids merchandise being official NRL merchandise. It's a cop out.

Oh BDGS, I can assume that old mate Graham wasn't one of your 'sources within the NRL' or has he played Judas on you? Maybe your sources inside the CIA can put out a hit on him. It seems your sources are running out of sauce.

Thank you for another personal attack, keep pulling those straws, they are getting smaller by the day.
Don't worry about the Central Coast bid, it's getting stronger and stronger each day.

Thank you for another personal attack ..
The 'personal attacks' as you put it will continue so long as you continue to post your subjective, biased and contrived drivel and expect everyone to eat it up like it was ice cream on a summer's day. And, glass houses buddy, you're not immune to 'personal attacks' yourself.
keep pulling those straws, they are getting smaller by the day..
I think you're getting two sayings mixed up; clutching at straws and drawing the short straw. Keep trying though lad, you'll master English yet.

Don't worry about the Central Coast bid, it's getting stronger and stronger each day.
I'm not worried. I support the efforts of those who are putting in.

Nope, i mean what i say and say what i mean. It is correct, you lot have been clutching at straws for a while, they are getting very short atm aka on the verge on non-existence or in lame dumbarse land, it means you guys are running out of things against the Central Coast NRL bid as the Bears keep ticking off each box.

Oh, and i've never attacked anybody who didn't 'start' first.

As much as I can,
the last thing we need is some firm corporate committment or a big money backer. It isn't essential but would give the NRL more confidence in our financial sustainability. It is what the bid team is going to be really working hard on and we have some good business people with strong contacts in WA business world on the bid team so fingers crossed they can get someone over the line.

Everything else the NRL is very happy with and apparently the TV values are significantly improved with having a WA team which is what is giving us the favourites tag at this point in time.

We could do with a good membership push but it isn't essential as the NRL recognise we have a strong starting supporter base of around 15k with some hardcore fans who will have a supporters club set up well before the team kick offs.

They are very pleased with our jnr development and can see that having an NRL team will be a massive boost for the game over here at all levels, especially with a new dynamic WARL heavily involved in the Reds, leading to development of WA bred players in the not too distant future for the club.

Stadium redevelopment is on schedule with work due to start mid to late this year and be completed early 2013.

Presuming expansion does go ahead then we are in a very good position to get a team and make it a success, adding significantly to the ARLC/NRL on a number of levels.

There was other very interesting stuff that I am afraid I can't divulge but none of it negative.
Thanks PR. Surely some corporate support will be forthcoming. Twiggy Forrest being with Crowe at last years game is encouraging.

not so sure we can rely on the Rabbitohs help, seems they are far more interested in feathering their own nest with WA money than helping us out (which I guess is fair enough as they are a business after all but a bit mean spirited!)

re regional games. I suspect there will be a regional membership that includes one or two Perth home games and I suspect they may take a pre season trial game to Kalg. or even up North if suitable venues can be found. A pre season game down in Bunbury would also be good, nice excuse for a weekend in Margaret River! :)

I hope they have a focus on getting involved with aboriginal health and manage to leverage some money out of the State coffers to head out to communities to do some health and lifestyle stuff. The game is popular up in the North and East and we need to support it through the Reds. Looking at how popular RL is in Aboriginal communities over East we should be looking for our next WA RL stars in these areas.

I'm tempted to email Annesley about this as I get no bloody responses from Carr! Coincidently his email is geoff@nswrl.com.au

TBF Annesley has always been a big supporter of a team in Perth, when he was over here a couple of years ago he talked us up big time. Bears have some egg on their face with either a misquote or a quote out of context so not worried about the "superior" thing at all.

It wouldn't matter would it? there are two spots open not one? So it doesn't make a difference is the Bears are superior or not, WA just have to be the next best.

Surely your sources inside the NRL, CIA and the UN have told you that the WA reds are the favoured option come expansion time. The team you surreptitiously support, the bears, will battle it out for any second spot.

No doubt this has been posted before but just so that Herr BDGS, the source and grammar nazi, doesn't blow a gasket:

Look my Signature, i support both the WA Reds and Central Coast Bears equally. If there was only one position open for expansion and i had the decision i would choose WA over the Central Coast Bears, But there is two positions open and the Bears bring just as much to the table as the WA Reds just in some ways things the WA Reds can't bring to the table that the NRL needs. On the other hand there are also things the WA Reds bring to the table that the NRL needs and that the Bears can't bring to the table.

I have talked about the the Central Coast Bears more because there has been more against that bid.

Say if there were 5 new members to this forum that signed up today and started talking down/down playing/ or saying the WA Reds do not deserve to be in the NRL then i would talk up and give facts as to why the WA Reds should be in the competition like i have done before on other social sites.

Who says there are 2 spots? Who said there are any spots? The NRL has said it will look at expansion, they have not guaranteed it. You're putting the horse before the cart here. I hope expansion occurs but at the moment it is not a certainity.

NRL expansion will happen, if anybody thinks it won't they haven't been listening.

I have never heard of any organisation openly and actively (wether that is meetings or official merchandise or telling bids what to do to get in) helping bids to enter their competition if no spots are open.

The NRL also will not expand by one, the NRL does not like having byes on a weekly basis.

Yes, it will happen, but perhaps not in 2013. Bids will be looked at this year but that does not mean that expansion thereafter is automatic. This is particularly so if only one bid meets the necccesary criteria. The NRL won't just pick the next best bid to make up the numbers.

Two bids meeting the criteria also does not mean that expansion will occur, that is at the NRL's discretion.

I didn't say it wasn't and i never said expansion will happen in 2013, i just said when it happens there will be two spots open.

IMHO, there are three bid teams that would meet NRL criteria currently. When the NRL wants to expand is up to them but i think it will be in 2013 or 2014.
