Very positive, nothing that I didn;t already know about. State Govt is getting more behind it now that a report has been tabled with them showing the value to WA of around $22mill a year from having an NRL team and they also need tennants to justify spending big on NIB stadium. Juniors have been a massive stride forward for us and I get the feeling (like Bears and membership) it was the key thing the NRL asked us to get sorted out for the bid. We know there are 15-20k fans who will turn up to games and up to 100k who will watch on TV from the beginning. We are the only bid to have an independent supporters group already up and running. Recent report has forcast Perth's population to double to 3.5 mill by 2050. We are still lacking some big money sponsors or backers but hopefully they will come when the NRL decide if they are actually going to expand. We have had over $500k in backing from companies for the runing of the bid so far. I'm happy with the way things are going, we aren;t singing and dancing about our progress like some bids but we are achieving the goals we have laid out to give us the best shot at a team.

I really hope they target Rio Tinto or BHP as a major sponsor. Mining represents the financial heart of this state and there are a huge amount of eastern staters and polynesians working up within the Pilbara, all hungry for RL.

yeh its an obvious link up for us, RL is strong up in the North, mining companies are desperate to attract workers West from RL States and many people already working in WA mines are from Q'land, Newcastle, NZ etc.

Below are Paul Vautin Comments on Triple MMM about expansion, if i can get a link to the video off a guy who posted it on another forum site i will end up posting it up.

But just because i am a good guy, i will type word for word hist comments on Expansion.

"My mail is the next team to come into the competition will be Perth, I've been told that's a given, they want ... the NRL actually wants a team there."

"before a second Brisbane team i would have Central Queensland, because between Brisbane and Townsville there is a thousand kilometres of hungry Rugby League supporters who want a team to support."

Rabs is soooo ignorant of what took place with the original Reds and Rams it isn't funny! (and in fact is very insulting to the WARL people who worked so hard to get the Western Reds up and running back in the early 90's).

lol the way he said Rugby with a very poor Northern accent suggesting that Northerners would be Union fans! I'm all for helping the aged but time to be put out to pasture me thinks!

The WARL intend to survey fans re club name and colours if we get the nod for 2013. Red, black and old gold seems to be the favourite amongst fans at the moment. Here is what this years SG Ball jersey would look like in old gold instead of silver.

I cant find a link for the story, but in todays Sunday Times(Perth) it says that ch9 wants the Souths v Broncos game in June at Perth to be on a friday night. No doubt this confirms that the tv dollar wants Perth at the top if the expansion list.

That is a thing of beauty. Just need a sleek new logo that is much less cartoonie.

I'd love to see a more traditional shield logo take on the Reds on that jersey.

I'd buy one and I ain't a fan of the Reds. It would look that good.

The back of jersey sponsor for the Force is a mining company isn't it? The mining companies are obviously switched on to it, and when NRL becomes a reality I can't see them missing out.

Watching the Force game last night you can see how a Perth team would add massively to the NRL. Having that 3rd live timeslot would be massive for the code on a Saturday night (or a second Friday night game live).

Correct. As we're both ex pat northerners I don't ever recall union being a big game at all north of Birmingham.
Hopefully 9 will get the flick and Rabs will never get to commentate at a Reds game! He is as bad a Ray French! lol

Rabs will most likely retire at the end of the 2012 season anyway after rounding out his career with the Olympics in London. With the Nine NRL contract due to end at the conclusion of 2012 and the fact he'll be going on 70 years old he knows his time is coming. Better to plan for the end of 2012 when he can go on his own terms than to have it taken away if Nine don't get the rights for the next deal.

Leigh.

That jersey is absolutley superb, if the club gets the nod, I think everyone should be encouraged to let the WARL and those in charge know that this jersey needs to be the one they use, I get a hard on when I look at it.
