Friday night is NRL game time in Perth. Tickets are selling fast and the WA red Army will be giving out 500 flags to kids and hope to see plenty of WA Reds gear in the crowd. Time to send a reminder to the ARLC!

Stadium Update:
the new Perth stadium looks to be finally starting. Could be a 70k capacity with retractable seating for rectangular pitch sports. Hopefully we will see SOO and test matches held there and one day a WA Reds major final!

Meanwhile the smaller but more important $100mill redevelopment of nib gets underway in a couple of months. During construction the ground will be restricted to about 10k. Work is due to begin in July and be finished by March 2013.

Just read in the Tele that the WARL bid and Sage's bid will join forces. Thank f**k, sanity prevails at last. WA Reds must be an absolute shoo-in now!

How is the media build-up to tonight's game going compared to previous years? Seems strange to schedule this for the same weekend as the AFL starts. Are Perth or Fremantle playing at home this weekend?

I haven't heard anything about that. Would make some sense though I get the idea that Sage isn't one for sharing his toys! I don;t get people's keeness on Sage, he has already gone on record as saying he isn;t prepared to put any of his own money into an NRL club and brings very little to the table as far as I can see. His track record with Perth Glory is hardly cause for celebration.

Advertising has been good for the game, better than previous years I would say. Regular TV adds during the Sunday NRL game, a little bit of advertising in the West Australian and some direct marketing to those who bough tickets online last year (Sam Burgess auto call urging fans to get to the game). The 6pm KO is going to have an effect sadly. Just once it would be nice to have the weather, the KO and the traffic gods all on our side!

Sydney derby is the only AFL game on this weekend. All other teams start next weekend so there's no clash.

Had a great night at the Footy tonight. Red Army signed up another 100+ members, gave out 500 Bring Back the Reds lfags to kids and they loved it. Every game there are more and more people wearing WA reds gear which is great to see. just wish we didn;t have to wait for a year to do it all again!

15,599 was the end figure I think. It was pretty empty at the start of the game due to the start time but it filled up by about half time

It'll be the size of Sydney today just after mid-century.

There's enough people now from NSW, QLD, NZ and UK, Enough to build a sizeable base to encourage locals and then become mainstream.
Plus theres the Zimbabwean and South Africans there too. Souper 15 has a short season, and they won't get many Wannabees games in Perth.

Benny Elias said the bids were united, but there has been talk they aren't. Is Sage involved now or not in the Reds bid?
