Tim Gilbert of ch 9'said in his interview that Perth and Ipswich ( meaning western corridor) are certainties which is a common line from the 9 sports team so I guess if 9 gets the rights we know the answer to expansion.
I hope Sage does support the WARL they have worked since 1997 to keep the game alive and they don't deserve to be cut out by a wallet at the last minute!

I don't think that Elias did say the bids were united, I actually thought he skimmed over the question rather than actually giving a definitive answer.

I keep telling you Sage brings nothing, NOTHING!,at all, to the tab;e. Just becuase he has millionsof $'s doesn;t mean he is going to spend it on a RL team, he has said he won;t be spending anything and sees this as a way of cutting his operating costs for his soccer team.

For all those who keep mentioning Sage and Elias joining the WA Reds bid howexactly do you think they value add?

Would you rather Sage works against the WA Reds and seeks to establish his own team in Perth?

I watched the Game Plan and it sounded to me like there would be a combined bid in WA.

Just clarified on the Footy Show. At this stage the bids are not and will not be combined in anyway.

Sages Perth Glory just made the finals and he is now cutting costs I would not have him anywhere near the bid

My interpretation (note my interpretation only, no supporting facts) after listening to both Sage and the head of the WARL over the last couple of days is that they are a bit snippy towards each other. Doesn't seem to be any plan to coordinate a bid. Not a good omen given the amount of air time that back-door Benny seems to be getting in the eastern states as the perceived 'ambassador' for the Perth bid. Hope this doesn't undermine the effort of the WARL and cleave the support base to create some sort of schism.

Sage is a johnny come lately who is tagging along on the coat tails of all the hard graft done by the WARL to get Perth in a position that the ARLC would consider Perth a viable option.

Really sh1ts me that the Eastern media has largely ignored the WA bid until a loud mouthed Sydney ex player is involved in some 1/2 ar5ed bid attempt and suddenly they are awake to the fact Perth exists.

They seem to be totaly ignorant of all the hard work done in the last 5 years including ,running a Jim Beam cup team for two seasons, launching an SG ball side, developing a Jnr elite academy, schools comp development, getting the WA Govt on side, getting the redevelopment of nib to include a 3rd home team dressing room, bringing NRL games back to Pereth, engaging with the fans to the point where we have one of the largest non club run supporters groups in the country etc etc.

Frick off Sage and Elias and invest in the Sharks if you want to own a NRL club so much!

You've got the wrong end of the pinapple there. The people who count know about the WARL's hard work and solid bid.

Its just not something that sells newspapers. Its not that exciting to people in NSW. Throw in a money grubbing miner with a soccer club and a has been Balmain player and the threat of competition and it becomes entertaining.

The Queensland bids (except the showy Bombers mob) have the same problem in NSW. But the NRL is aware of the importance those regions hold for the game.

The Bears have had the most attention due to their well known brand and struggles. Yet they aren't likely to win, even with the media circus. Its all just entertainment.

Its just a News Ltd/ Channel 9 conspiracy....

They have no real say in the game regardless of paying hundreds of millions of dollars to show it....
Hundreds of millions of dollars of course buys the networks a real say. But the ultimate decision remains within the game. The Commission is free to go a different direction to what the networks want and the cost of that will be a hit to what the networks are prepared to pay. That's not a conspiracy, it's simply the give and take of doing business.

I believe Perth will be apart of the NRL come the next expansion.

But let's say they miss out. Do they pack up their bags and go home or do they continue to fight on?

If expansion comes in 2015 no one knows when the next expansion will follow.

I doubt it's going to come to that but the WARL will still be around and would have another tilt. I think there's also still going to be private investors in most of the major centres wanting teams.

I can guarantee Sgae and Elias will slink off never to be heard of again until the next chance comes along. The WARL have a solid plan for continuing to build the game in WA, they've been around for 60 odd years and will be around for a lot more to come.

I suspect we may abandon the SG ball side unless the ARLC agree to fund it.
