The Cruel Sea - Three Legged Dog

Excellent album, probably their second best behind The Honeymoon is Over. But sh*t its close.

Also played Beasts of Bourbon - The Low Road lately too. Bloody good kickarse Aussie Hard Rock. Tex owns :)

Slayer - World Painted Blood.
Not bad, but their best days are behind them I'm afraid.

But average Slayer still trumps 90% of other stuff out there imo.

Me:

Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster - "III"

Kick-ass Deep South influenced Christian metalcore band.

Set Your Goals - "This Will Be The Death Of Us"

Downloaded it from iTunes because I liked one of their songs...Hate them. Terrible.

Still listening to Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster. Epic band.

Death - Symbolic

In the space of a month Death has gone from a band i'd heard of but never listened to to easily one of my favourite bands ever. Their run of albums from Human through to Sound of Perseverance in particular is just a non-stop barrage of f**k-yes awesomeness.

Suppose there is. Altho alot of bands who have christian members (but aren't necessarily a band that sings about god and sh*t) get lumped into the genre. august burns red and As I Lay Dying are probably the two bands that have the biggest following.. neither really sing about religion or that much but are heavily into their religions.Haste the day, norma jean, underoath are a few other ones i can think of ....

Its more about positive lyrics...rather then death and is often also more melodic with still that "screamo" element. But at the end of the day its only a label...or a tag that someone has made up. Metal is f**king metal...most of the bands hate these terms (deathcore metalcore etc .)

P.O.D and Evanescence (sp?) were/are other christian rock bands. I always thought Christian rock was albums with no swearing/we love satan lyrics etc.

Musically similar but you can buy it for your kid at Christmas kinda thing.

I've only heard their album 'III' - maybe the other was sh*t lol. But that album was kick-arse.

Born of osiris-a higher place

Awesome. Great band.

Well, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster don't preach Christianity - rather they invoke the spirit of Ma Barker and her sons.

I like them because they used harmonicas, banjos and guitars in their music.

But I don't know why they have to be labelled 'Christian' because they themselves say they hate preaching.

I don't know why people even mention their religion. They don't go on about it in their songs, and the ones that sometimes do (Haste The Day...) it's so obscure you can't really tell anyway.
