The difference between the first string sides and the backups is huge. Plus it's preseason which means absolutely nothing. The Lions went four and oh in a preseason a few years back before following it up with an oh and sixteen season.
Beyond the highlights I definitely wouldn't say Hayne looks like he belongs. He's shown some flashes but his running between the tackles doesn't look good at all. I think he'll make the side but I'd be surprised if he sees the field at all kick/punt returns aside which is an easy transition for a guy who's played fullback and is used to returning the ball at oncoming defenders.
Rather than watching the highlights on the news, follow the game and watch one start to finish and tell me you can't see the glaring difference between Hayne and the other regulars.
I'm not diminishing his achievements at all but some people are acting like he's about to get this multiyear deal for huge numbers. It's not the case at all. I'm laughing at the people suggesting he's going to get upwards of five million dollars a year. Not a chance.
No-one besides a couple of troll accounts in this thread are claiming he is going to get the max salary this year.
As you know because of the rookie salary structure he isn't able to sign a fat contract . But as if he won't make some coin from endorsements due to his "novelty". To even make it as a kick return specialist is remarkable. Desmond Howard won a Super Bowl MVP playing this role and signed a $6M contract on the back of it in the 90s. If its such an "easy" transition then why dont players from all Rugby codes try out??
He has never played before in his life and you don't think that it is remarkable that he may make the squad so early on? Even his biggest fans didn't think he would get there until next year at least. You seem to think that because he isn't at the level of 5 year pros he isn't that great? I don't understand why you Madden guys are so down on him, like he has offended you or something.
Its 2015, you don't think most sports fans have watched literally hundreds of NFL games over the years? Its been shown on Australian TV since the 80s. Playing Madden doesn't make you an expert.
