What if Jarryd Hayne doesn't make the 49ers cut? Will he return to the NRL?

The best australian sportsman will be Ben Simmons next year in basketball....

this guy will be drafted number 1 and be an allstar

nba player james harden just got a 200 million shoe deal from addidas and Ben will get a massive shoe deal right away

Let's be serious, when he is back he will be at the Rooters. Done deal rubber stamped by the NRL and with brown paper bags courtesy of Nick Politis

Because the guy predicted to go #1 a year out from the draft always goes #1.

Just like Jalil.

His a lock no doubt. Even niners fans think he's already one of the best PR's they've had for some time.

Somebody did say as well that the cowboys coverage WAS 1st string but I'm not sure. Denver certainly got down quick and he still looked capable returning it.

Even a Denver sports reporter said he could be the NFL's most exciting player so its not all Aussie media writing stuff like that.

with all due respect, you don't know much about Ben or college players.

He is number 1 by a huge margin, he would of been taken number this year.

Perfect player to build a franchise around.

Some positions are easier than others. Kick/punt return man is one of them. There's a reason there's very few specialists in the role anymore. You need to be able to bring something else given the new kick off rules. They're not going to pay someone to stand back there and watch a ball sail over there head.

If Hayne had gone over there with the intentions of playing quarterback or middle linebacker he'd of been laughed off the runway.

I don't know why you're getting all precious about it. It's just my opinion. Who cares?
I think it's ridiculous to say that kick/punt returning is any easier than any other position...

For Jarryd Hayne... with his background in the NRL... Those positions will translate easier for him.

But if your a 6"7 athletic basketballer you'll probably find Tight End an easier position to translate yours skills to...

It all depends on the background, physical stature and skill set as to which position is 'easier'.

I thought Hayne would be no chance of making the roster... I thought whatever he could do in special teams wouldn't be enough to offset the fact he wouldn't be a very good RB or WR... As teams don't normally carry specialist kick returners...

How wrong was I... His work on returning punts and kicks has been phenomenal... Absolutely special. He's certainly better than any returners we have in Oakland.

He certainly isn't going back to the NRL... Because even if the 49ers cut him... There will be at least half a dozen other teams who will sign him... And is be very surprised if my Oakland Raiders weren't one of the teams that go hardest for him.

I like how the Madden Fan Bois take a joke account's statements as being representative of the general League public's beliefs with respect to Hayne.

Yeah because you judge all of the posts by NFL fans on its merits and not group all together as delusional no matter what they post. Oh wait...

I mean what is it Madden FanBois? is the NFL the toughest, hardest sports competition on the planet or beyond its starting lineups everyone is basically geniused.

I don't understand why you Madden guys are so down on him, like he has offended you or something.

So now the Madden guys are saying "Well some positions are piece of piss"

Unbelievable.

Well he can't play QB so he is shit then.

Madden fan boys, hey

f**k off you hypocrite.

Also lol at your assertion that we don't watch NFL and claim we are experts because we play Madden while claiming you've watched hundreds of games. Yeah you're a fan (it's pretty obvious you aren't, but we'll pretend you actually like the sport) because you watch hundreds of games, but we aren't because you disagree with our opinion

The Cowboys special teams was a mixture. Their 1st string was middle of the road last year, and haven't been great this preseason.

As for the Broncos, he only returned 1 punt, and the closest defender was about 10 yards from him when he caught it. He had plenty of room to run. His 2nd and 3rd returns last week are much better examples of what he can do.

If that was a middle of the road ST Hayne faced, he'll lead the NFL in punt returns.

As you said, the Broncos defender 10 yards on the fly yet Hayne returns it 12. You could see him try and guess which way he'll step so they aware of his abilities.

I'm not saying he's going to dominate, becasue he may fail dismally. But he had the ability to more then compete.

Wipe away your tears with your USA No1 Tank top, I didn't claim that I've watched hundreds of games, I said as if modern sports fans in 2015 haven't. You Madden guys seem to think your some sort of niche sports fans.

Your sycophantic view is that what he has done isn't that great and most anyone could do it. And because he isn't a Pro Bowler already he isn't that remarkable.

Either Maximus is trolling to be the biggest dick head on the forum or he's an inbred murican wannabee fanboy who's upset about his boyfriend taking his pink Hyundai without asking.

Either way, the c**k breath is strong.

f**king bullshit...

Anyone who says that has no f**king idea what there talking about.

What Hayne has produced this offseason has been remarkable. He's got himself a roster spot based on purely his special teams worth... And in this day and age you have to be f**king amazing to take up a roster spot for special teams.

He still needs to keep learning.. His biggest problem at the moment is as a RB... He's probably still not entirely trust worthy to have out there for extended periods as he's not the most assured blocker and too often looks a little lost when play doesn't go his way...

But when you consider that he has no background in football and these are his first games EVER!

It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in sports.

Rather than watching the highlights on the news, follow the game and watch one start to finish and tell me you can't see the glaring difference between Hayne and the other regulars.

I've watched all of his games, he looks like he has no idea what he's doing right up until the moment he does it and then afterwards goes back to looking lost. He's a freak. He seriously looks like a lost puppy, then catches or gets handed the ball and does crazy shit, gets up and looks confused about where to go next.

Granted at RB he has got belted a couple of times and missed a few alleys but he still has two longer carries than any other RB in the pre-season for the 49ers.

I've asked you numerous times now to prove it, but you keep dodging the request. Put up or shut up. Just 1 post is all you need. I guarantee once again you will dodge it and claim that this post is me claiming he is the worst player ever or something.

Did you ever find the post that says rote memory is something to be in awe of?

Nobody has said that. Read the posts I quoted and his posts in the other Hayne threads. Pretty much every single post is claiming NFL fans are saying stuff like that, and when he gets called out he just says the same thing or avoids it and creates another straw man argument. Have a read of his replies to Sleep in this thread.

You must be American, because your an arrogant wanker. Demanding things like you're some sort king around here.

Would it kill you to just recognise that what he has achieved so far is remarkable given he has never played a game in his life. And that continually saying "Well it's only second stringers" is irrelevant given his position.

So that's a no you can't prove it. Yeah didn't think so.

Would it kill you to recognise that NFL fans in these threads aren't saying that NFL players need to be superhuman athletes or Mensa members? Would it kill you to just recognise that when fans say it is only preseason, or it is only 2nd-3rd stringers that they aren't saying what he is doing isn't great or something special?

There are posters claiming he will be a starter, or that he doesn't actually have to learn that much, or he is already a successful NFL player. Telling people to calm down, and that it is just preseason isn't saying he has achieved nothing and he may as well walk home like you are claiming. It is saying it is preseason and means very little in the grand scheme of things. There is a long way to go. He certainly wouldn't be the first player to have had a good preseason and then sit on the bench the entire regular season and out of the league within a few years.

At this stage he is the 5th string RB. The 5th stringer has gotten about 1 or 2 carries over the entire season for the 49ers over the last few years. Yep it is a fantastic achievement as many of us thought he would struggle to make a roster (personally I thought he would be a good kick/punt returner, but struggle in skill positions), but people need to settle down a little bit.

Most of your post is reasonable. However this is the bit that I question. Run me through the great gamut of guys who have NEVER played before and had good pre seasons? Even if he never plays one down, to even make a roster would be a stunning achievement.

Also who the f**k is claiming he will be a starting RB???

What about your buddy in this thread claiming that he isn't that special because he isn't trying out for QB??

Be honest mate, you assume nobody knows anything about the NFL and like to big note yourself
