The ramones where never techincally brillant, they revolved around simple chord structures with a minor solo on some instances, yet glam rock bands had the whole lot...fast adagio's on the guitar, brillant tapping sequences, banging out 17 piece drum sets in the fastest times possible & singers with wonderfull voices, the Ramones where none of this....yet there given rock gods status....or in this case punk rock ;-)

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In the Ramones case, the beauty, the soul of their music was in its simplicity. Simple chord progressions and catchy hooks all in (usually) under 2 minutes. The energy proved irresistable, hence the continued popularity of punk.

I don't know if this is correct, but im sure Joey Ramone and the rest of them where actually glam to start of with??

Not sure about that - I havent delved that far into their history - but anything's possible. Maybe the signature Ramones super-tight jeans were a precursor to the catsuits of the glam era.
