People actually do it. For example, I remember Bad Boys 2 (not a great movie, but not the worst either) had a lot of grotty/gross/gory scenes in it. I remember a few people had enough of all the crap and got up and walked out. For a lot of people movies aren't as good as they're promoted to be.
Gone Girls is a current example... so far most people I've spoken to about it find it very confusing and wished they never forked out the $20 to see it.
The Benchwarmers.
Yes, having Rob Schneider and David Spade should have been a dead give away in the poster. But my defence is that we (me and my then girlfriend now wife) were seeing a band at The Metro in the city, and there were no support acts, so we went to the cinemas across the road. It seemed, at the time, to be the best on offer and also what we were in the mood to see. At least it killed 90 or so minutes.
