Saw Transformers 2 today. Had very low expectations going in and it was pretty bad. First one was a lot better.
NEGATIVES
Characters were pretty much introduced for the sole reason of selling toys which really added to the clusterf**k atmosphere of the movie. The decepticons were basically cannon fodder throughout the whole movie with most of them not even getting introduced before being killed off. Megatron looked weak as piss, and the Fallen has to one of the worst bad guys ever.
The jokes were terrible, beyond terrible, and who were they even aimed at? They were too childish for adults to laugh at, but most of them were of a sexual nature which surely isn't aimed at children.
It was a movie they tried to make accessible to everyone and it came across as very awkward because of it. Plot - simple, dialogue - cringeworthy, character - non-existent, but all of those things were expected. It was the extra attempts at comedy (terribly done) where they really destroyed what could've been a very good switch off the brain action blockbuster.
Gansta Transformers. f**k me that was terrible, especially seeing as it came at the expense of Ironhide and Ratchet who were more like background characters. Sideswipe (I think that's who it was) was the other one who got introduced early and then was non-existent after that.
Biggest negative - Michael Bay. Although in fairness, the script was terrible and gave him little to work with.
POSITIVES
Can't argue with the effects/action, after all, this is what the movie is all about.
Optimus Prime kicks arse. Was made to look a bit weak in the first, but not this time.
Megan Fox. Once again have to question who exactly the movie was aimed at with some of the positions she was in, but seeing as I'm an adult male who doesn't have to give a sh*t about that, she looked f**king awesome. Who cares if you can act with a body like that.
Overall - Pretty poor imo. There really wasn't anything too memorable about it. It was almost as if they tried to cram too much into the movie instead of keeping it relatively simple like they did in the first. It's my biggest gripe with Bay. Bigger doesn't always equal better. All you have to do is look at Bad Boys 2 compared to Bad Boys to see how Bay can butcher a sequel when trying to make it bigger and better.
