Spaceballs is being shown at a local cinema here in Wellington in a couple of weeks, that gives me great helmet!!!!

After watching it about 54 quadrillion times on a taped-from-TV VHS throughout the entirety of the 90s, gonna be awesome to catch on the big screen for the first time!

I feel compelled to tell people not to see Monuments Men.

Perhaps recommend the movie to your worst enemies.

Saw Robocop last night and actually quite enjoyed it. And this is coming from someone who grew up wearing out the VHS copy taped from TV in the early 90s with many repeat viewings, and didn't particularly like the trailer for this new version.

It's nothing like the gritty original (no "Bitches Leave", sorry), but holds up better on it's own merits I reckon than say the Total Recall remake (which I still maintain shouldn't have been called Total Recall).

Still got The Hobbit (at Embassy Wellington) & Wolf of Wall Street to catch at the cinema before they go, will
hopefully get around to that this weekend as it's supposed to be sh!thouse weather (tailend of a tropical cyclone gonna be lashing us for a couple of days apparently)...

Watched the original King Kong. It was fun. The old effects would have been amazing back then. Still better than a lot of effects up until the 70s or so and even some of the crappy CGI we see now.

Agree it's not as good as the 1st one, but leaves me wanting another.

Themistocles has nothing on Leonidas.

Wolf of Wall Street.

It was meh. Gave it a 6/10. If you're into swearing and naked women, you'd probably give it more.

Felt nothing for the main character. Wish he got murdered in the end or something. Rough justice but at least it would have made an impression.

Saw the new 300. Was ok. Same type of ridiculous violence, shirtless men and unhistorical bullshit as the first, but still fun to watch. Artemisia was such an overacted, try-hard attempt to be 'badass' it was cringeworthy. And the sex scene was one of the dumbest things I've seen.

2 Guns.

6/10

Some parts of the movie were entertaining, but most of it was less than I expected. I don't like the way Mark Walhberg movies are panning out as if he's an untouchable bad ass... he looks nothing the sort!

The Forgotten. 2004 film with Julieanne Moore.
6/10 has a pretty good premise and 1st 2 acts but the ending lets it down. I had seen it a few years back but I'm not sure if I saw the whole thing or, ironically, forgotten how it ended.

Are these both some weird CGI'ed freak shows? If so, I turned the first one off after five minutes.....totally visual garbage.
