Looper was good, but didnt live up to hype imo. Very original, good cast.

Luckily I don't really have my finger on the pulse of upcoming movies these days, so miss most of the hype machine for the 'next big hit', which makes for a more enjoyable cinema experience with minimal expectations and all.

I definitely enjoyed it, some good action and some tense moments (with a sprinkling of humourous moments e.g. the safe, I was all "what the hell is she doing" but made sense in retrospect).
But like any movie that uses time-travel as a device, you start questioning the logic of "if this person did/didn't do that thing in the present/future, then how come all that stuff still happens/doesn't happen".
At least the how-time-travel-works setup wasn't overly convoluted as can happen (in fact they pretty much told us not to think too hard about it, via a couple of throwaway lines!)

There were also a couple of characters that you felt like something was going to be revealed about them (in the sense of where they came from or who they become in the future) but just never happens.
Also, like someone else mentioned, it was just plain weird seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt with a stumpy Bruce Willis nose & dimples.

Good fun though.

Just saw 'Safety Not Guaranteed'.

A guy puts an ad in the paper asking for a partner to go back in time with him. Must bring their own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. A magazine sends some reporters out to interview him.

Pretty cool movie. Definitely recommend it.

Argo was brilliant, one of the best of the year.

Ben Affleck is really showing up all his critics from a few years back.

Watched that doco 'Restrepo' last night.

Yank army lads deployed to Afghan, shows some of the shit they went through, wasn't too bad but got a little boring in parts.

The Sessions

Typical Indie film in a lot of ways. A 38 year old polio sufferer is determined to lose his virginity and sources out a sexual surrogate played by Helen Hunt.

Film could have easily fallen apart but the dialogue and performances enable you to sympathise with these characters and understand their story.

Solid.

Seven Psychopaths is hilarious

Billy's description of the 'final shootout' is one of the funniest things ever

gotta say i left satisfied. it is only a movie after all.

doesn't quite have the shape or execution casino royale had but still feels so right. some funny goofs in there with the whole '50 years' celebration.

my main issue, without going to far into detail for obvious reasons, is the lack of screen time Silva gets. however definitely in casino royale's league for top 2 bond movies ever.

highly recommend.

Read the book Beave it is a lot better.

I was really looking forward to the doco after reading it and even I found the doco pretty boring in parts.

Kudos to the writer for staying with them for their tour and for going out on patrol with them in pretty deadly situations.
