I watched Beastie Boys Story last night and really enjoyed it.

I read a negative review of it before watching and was concerned, but I thought it was pretty good. It helps that I used to be a big fan, especially in the 90s. Saw them live twice and got into an after party after one show.

The Story is a filming of a live theatre show they did with the two living members Mike D and Adrock, walking an audience through their history, with photos and video on the screen behind them. It’s directed by Spike Jonze.

I learned heaps about their early days in particular, and there were palpable moments of joy, humour and grief. Even if you’re not a fan it’s hard not to like them and while the style might sound iffy, it’s quite effective.

If you’re a rap or music fan in general it’s worth a look. 3.5/5

Aquaman is my favourite superhero, hands down, and I love Jason Momoa, so I'm biased - but I thought they did Aquaman great justice in the film.

They dispelled all those ridiculous myths of Aquaman being weak, or "talking to fish", and made him into a likeable badass (which he really should be, anyway).

Random pick on Amazon Prime was The Art of Self Defence. It's a comedy but the type of humor reminded of Napoleon Dynamite although a different kind of story. Really made me laugh at times.

Hustlers, Jennifer Lopez movie.

I honestly watched it because it was Jennifer Lopez and strippers.

It turns out it is quite a decent movie.

Kind of a crime caper with a bit of humour and is very easy on the eye.

Kind of I,Tonya or wolf of wall street lite.

Lopez is very good in it, surprisingly.

The plot and premise are just laughable but the single tracking shots are pretty awesome and the tech to do it has been coming along nicely in recent times. Makes you think how good it would been for older action movies with great story/script but a bit light on the action

Watched a couple of movies with stars from the Golden era of Hollywood last week

The File On Thelma Jordon, an interesting film noir with plenty of plot twists starring Barbara Stanwyck where she pretends to fall in love with an assitant district attorney and uses him to acquit her of murder of her rich aunt.

Old Acquaintance, a story of child hood friends who reconnect, one is selfless,wry, witty and calm and the other is self centered and histrionic, it follows their lives, careers and how they drift apart but still come together as friends at the end, it starred Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins, Bette is fabulous as selfless Kit who gives up love because of her friendship with the pretentious Milly who is played a bit over the top by Miriam Hopkins.

Yeah, I hope the sequel's plot is he just has to get in somewhere, kill some (actual) bad people, rescue someone or something, kill some bad people getting out ... I also hope the Iranian chick is still in his squad.
