What Movies Have You Seen III

Ok I just forced myself to watch The Predator all the way through, and hooooooooly f**k.

That final scene, the setup for future sequels, what the f**k? In the context of the rest of the film it makes no sense whatsoever. What a f**king dumb movie all round... Like, Transformers level stupid.

I wasted money seeing that in the cinema, was in awe at how bad it was. The suburban setting, the predator dogs, the out of place comedy, the forest which looked like part of someones backyard...

Got home from work yesterday with a slight headache, so was looking for something to relax on the couch with after dropping a couple of nurofen, ended up landing on Role Models, starring Paul Rudd and Steve Stifler.

Seen it before, always gets a few lols from my infantile brain, but I wasn't prepared for this nugget from Ken Jeong at about the 35 sec mark.

This movie kills me. Ronny is all time

Anson sits down to meet his new foster kid in the middle of the class room

''Hey buddy hows it going?''

Ronny ''NO I DONT WANT TO TOUCH YOUR DICK!''

"I like Ronnie's version better... I like how it invokes the concept of "ass" and "butt"

I’ll watch Prisoners for sure. I like our Hugh and I’ve liked Gyllenhaal, ever since Donnie Darko. Re: HJ, I watched The Greatest Showman recently and liked it surprisingly. I’m normally repelled by musicals but I thought it was quite good and I even liked the musical parts. The only other musical to film adaptation I can remember watching in the last few years is Les Miserables and I went into it with fond memories of seeing the stage production in my childhood.

I watched the uhd of Fury the other night and it was so brutally good. I’ve seen it before but first time in 4K, HDR and Atmos. The picture was beautiful (even though the subject matter is very grim) and the deep growl of the tanks lumbering along was like experiencing an earthquake.

It’s one of Brad Pitt’s finest films imo. It’s about a U.S tank platoon in WWII Germany and in particular one named Fury. Fury’s commander is played by Pitt and the rest of the crew includes Shia Leboeuf and Michael Peña. It’s basically one of the best films in the genre. Fairly typical but focused on a tank crew. It includes one of, if not the best battle scenes in all war films. 4/5

Ad Astra - I normally like space movies and sci-fi but this was a real pile of crap. Too far fetched considering how serious it was trying to be. I found it hard to buy into the drama and Pitt's internal monologues were tedious. The science was very questionable during a lot of it....

Why would anyone even bother watching a remake of a classic? Just like Point Break, Karate Kid et al, they’re always shit compared to the original.

Haha yeah, the predator dogs. One of them gets lobotomised by a gunshot to the head and then suddenly they're all "oh, he's a good doggy, let him live!"

I had to look up what on earth happened with the production of this film and it turned out the entire third act was rewritten and reshot. It was apparently supposed to take place at some secret research facility during daytime where there were good predators helping them out. It apparently didn't test well with audiences so they scrapped it. Can you imagine how bad it must have been if they went with the reshoots?

Yeah I watched this last night... The visual metaphors with Pitt's character being tethered to his dad and then cutting the cord were like being bludgeoned with a hammer. Then moments later you have him jetpacking his way through Neptune's ring with a piece of metal as a shield, then riding the nuclear explosion all the way home to earth... The ending was just ridiculous.

Disturbing Behavior ; A steaming pile of crap. Im normally a sucker for horror/thriller movies and like ones that normally a lot of people don't. But this was just a f**king mess. 1 out of 5

To follow up from the above with steaming pile of crap is Extraction.

Completely over the top action in violence, like a poor man's John Wick, however I think this movie thought itself serious.

Also a 1, but out of 10.

Avoid.

Two completely different movies on the bill tonight.

Fletch Lives - Classic comedy with Chevy Chase in fine form. It’s possibly my favorite movie of his. He plays some awesome characters in it.

Skin - About a most wanted white supremacist who seeks redemption. Very good acting by the lead Jamie Bell. Gritty and rough but not that interesting. American History X is probably better.
