Is anyone else as excited that they've finally started filming super troopers 2 as I am?

Yes and no. They don't have a big budget. And the guys are getting on a bit. If you look at there other stuff it's a bit hit and miss. So I'm not holding high hopes for the sequel.

The first one had it's moments but all in all wasn't that great. Hollywood pulling a classic cash-in movie job using a 'cult classic' as leverage... nothing new. Will probably be horrendous...

It was crowdfunded. But as I said, they hit once really. Other movies they have done have been ho hum.

EDIT:

It's not like they have a big budget. Geez, I think it will likely suck.

The first one had a budget of $1mil. I like Beerfest but thought Club Dreed or whatever it was sucked.

Hope ST2 has some good moments, would ruin the first if it doesn't.

I saw "The Shallows" last night. While no shark movie will ever come close to Jaws, this was probably the next best thing. Very enjoyable.

i liked it, sprung it on the other half without a prior explanation about what it was about, she doesn't do scary movies very well lol

i enjoyed it. like Gervais does he makes you somewhat dislike the character but also feel so sorry for him. it's pretty funny. i didn't watch much of the english version of the office though.

Just watched Suicide Squad on a whim tonight before it leaves theatres.

It was a movie. What kind of movie, I couldn't tell you. As most have said it was just all over the place. Fun in parts, just plain confusing in others.

Oh well, at least Margot Robbie's ass was slipping out as much as her Aussie accent seemed to so I'll give it an OKish/10.

Finally got around to Civil War - 7/10, enjoyable but vastly overrated.

The action set pieces are fantastic, some of the best in the MCU so far, but the writing is actually pretty terrible. Motivations aren't as badly defined as BvS, but still poor. Several scenes and characters (esp Spidey) make no sense other than just to have a smash off between heroes, a fight which goes nowhere anyway. Villain only exists to set up the very contrived final act. All fun, but full of holes.

Downey Jnr is incredibly good, and (Spiderman angle aside), is the only character that made any sense. Evans gets the shaft with his constant "but, what about poor Bucky" shtick. Nobody else gets any development.

Deer Hunter 8/10. Needs patience but has a great second act. Climax a bit flawed.
Casino 7/10. Good but overrated, maybe I'm just not a fan of Scorsese's well shot epic biopics about scumbags which aren't dark comedy. Didn't like Goodfellas much for the same reason.

Demolition 9/10. Weird and not for everyone, but I thought it was absolutely fantastic.
Locke 8/10. Very different, minimalist drama, Tom Hardy is excellent

Lions for Lambs 7/10 - Talky, political and not for everyone, but the odd cast of Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford make it work. Manages to keep all key characters and themes nice and grey.

The Ides of March 7/10 - Again all about politics but a bit more dramatic, great performances from Gosling and Clooney

The Nice Guys 8/10 - Absolutely top class dark comedy, one of the most hilarious movies I've seen in ages

Rendition 8/10 - Underrated, again on terrorism / interrogations with an all star cast.

Finally got around to watch Full Metal Jacket 29 years after it was made.

Kubbrick can sure make a good film. Brutally honest and on par with The Hurt Locker in that respect. No American propaganda bullshit - just up the guts.

8.5/10
