Matrix Resurrections - Yeah…
kinda don’t know what to make of it…
It’s definitely a Matrix film but at times it’s so meta it’s almost getting to parody territory.
the best thing WB’s did was put it on streaming same day it was released… that way I don’t waste another $60 on the franchise.
they still owe me for the last 2 sequels…
I just watched all four Matrix films back to back.
First thing I gotta say is that the first two sequels were not as bad as I remember them being, but they are still highly repetitive and boring as f**k in parts. The fight scenes are just overly long and tedious, though the twist at the end of Reloaded is somewhat interesting I suppose. They really could have condensed both of these films into one.
The original film was groundbreaking with regard to visual and practical effects and the worldbuilding was sublime. But when the credits start to roll I'm left asking myself "do I really care where the story goes from here?"
And for me that's the problem with films 2 through 4. I don't care. And what I don't care about the most is the relationship between Neo and Trinity which is easily the least interesting but apparently, according to the sibling directors, the most important aspect of these films. I simply do not give a f**k about this love interest angle. Trinity goes from being kick ass to kiss ass and both her and Neo suffer for it.
Which brings me to this latest film. Why? What's the f**king point here? I'm seeing a lot of people saying that The Matrix Resurrections subverts expectations, but does it really? My expectation, after seeing the first two sequels again which I really didn't remember much of, was that this new addition would reinforce my belief that there really should have only been one Matrix film to begin with. Expectations CONFIRMED. Take the f**king blue pill next time!
Also, Stormtroopers have far more accuracy than anyone in these films.
