Yet coaches persist with splitting their halves.
Bennett has never fallen for this, and you need to only go back to the 2010 grand final when Ben Hornby, at halfback, set up two tries on the right edge when most considered him a left-edge player.
If he'd stayed there, as some coaches would have ordered, they never would have got those tries.
I wonder why coaches persist, and I can't figure it out.

Well Ricky, they're the ones getting paid to coach NRL clubs. I'm guessing they can figure it out.

As for Hornby, he was a left-side player. It doesn't mean he's not allowed to cross the ruck and make the extra man when it's needed.

There was no difference between Hornby and Soward's game other than what side of the field they played on. And both were free to cross the ruck if they saw an opportunity - just like in the 2010 grand final. It doesn't mean one is any more a halfback than the other one, as proven by the fact they touch the ball about the same amount of times every week.

And this idiot gets to pick the Origin team?

If Jarrod Mullen 'moved to five-eighth' then why did most of his runs come at first receiver? Why did he finish the game with more touches than his halfback?

Yeah, you should pick the Origin team Pou Pou. f**k you should coach them.

Yeah, Bennett moved Mullen to 6 for no reason.

There was quite a bit of difference. Hornby is an organiser. Soward mostly played attacking opportunities. The difference is also evident in Carney's game at the moment. He has played a lot better since moving to 6, leaving Robson as the organising 7 while Carney can plan the attacking opportunities.

I assure you, you couldn't imagine how shit we played. We had plenty of possession and position, but couldn't convert that into points.

We struggled off our line in defense, and im sure a few NSW cup teams would of touched us up.

but there is nothing wrong with our structure.

we have a great defensive structure, our hitup structure is second to none and our attacking structure is way awesome.

We've gone back to the rabble we were when we played the Cowboys and Penrith. The scoreline might not look as bad but that's because Newcastle were terrible too. Just not as terrible. Put that effort in against a side that plays well we get lapped by 50.

It's OK, everyone.

Calm down.

You see, Kearney is LIVID!!!!

Eels coach livid after loss to Knights

Parramatta coach Stephen Kearney appears to be fed up with the inconsistent displays from his expensive halfback Chris Sandow after watching his side fall 14-6 to Newcastle in a dreadful NRL clash at Hunter Stadium.
The loss keeps Parramatta at the bottom of the table and Kearney was in no mood to give an assessment of South Sydney recruit Sandow's performance on Sunday.
"Bad time to ask me," Kearney said.
When asked if he wasn't happy with Sandow's performance he said again: "Bad time to ask me."
The Eels had plenty of chances in the match but for the most part they looked flat in attack aside from the odd decent play from five-eighth Ben Roberts who tried his best to spark the team, particularly in the second half.
"I don't think Wayne (Bennett) would be real happy but he would be happier than me," Kearney said.
"I thought we gave ourselves enough opportunities in that second half on their tryline but we just couldn't come up with that killer blow.
"I don't mind getting beat but I don't like us beating ourselves which I thought we did today."
Captain Nathan Hindmarsh laid the blame elsewhere.
"I think our halves are doing a good job but then it's up to everyone to listen to them I think," he said.
"The halves can only call the plays but then it's up to the boys to get there and today there were a few of us who weren't trying real hard to get there."
The Knights made life difficult for themselves with some poor discipline but they did enough to hold on with Akuila Uate scoring two tries.
Five-eighth Jarrod Mullen came up with some big plays for the Knights but none bigger than his 40-20 in the second half which brought his side to life.
On the back of the 40-20 in the 54th minute Newcastle sent the ball wide with centre Junior Sa'u throwing a dubious pass for Uate to crash over in the corner.
Young halfback Tyrone Roberts, who replaced injured skipper Kurt Gidley, converted the try from out wide to give the Knights a 14-6 lead.
Newcastle led 8-6 at halftime after a terrible opening 40 minutes with both sides guilty of squandering tryscoring opportunities in front of a big crowd of 24,518.
The Knights opened the scoring on six minutes when captain Danny Buderus went for a blindside play, finding Sa'u who sucked in two defenders before popping a short ball for unmarked Uate to score out wide.
Eels prop Tim Mannah made amends for a couple of terrible play-the-balls that resulted in scrums when he barged over to score from close range in the 35th minute on the back of a penalty against Timana Tahu for a high shot.
