Off the top of my head, he sure as shit shouldn’t have resigned Smith and I think Kaysa has been a poor re-signing the last few times. I don’t think we’ve got value for on hoffman and the Evans signing is questionable at best.
Taka and Mannah on long term deals.......

Derp!!

The problem is though, both Smith and French (as well as Taka) still saw plenty of first grade this year to suggest they could see enough in 2019 to attract interest from other clubs. That’s probably enough hope to keep them interested in staying with us and not pursue opportunities elsewhere.

I dare say BA felt no loyalty to Foran after the mess he caused so his demotion from the captaincy is largely irrelevant to this discussion. Foran also asked for a release if I remember correctly so he wasn’t really moved on.

Mannah hasn’t been dropped has he and what demotion has BA given him?

Scott’s the only one I can see that BA has really made a tough call on.

Did you see our injury toll? Didn’t we use 31 or so players the most of any club? So what was BA meant to do play with 15 players so we can let smith / French know we really don’t want them?

I think there may be a bit more to the story then Foran just asking for a release, maybe BA was putting pressure on him to rehab probably.....

Mannah was dropped to bench, he was a starting player for several years, I suspect players hate being on the bench to start the game.

How about the Cleveland Browns.
Hue Jackson has only won 2 games in the past 2 years and still has a job.

Philadelphia 76ers had Brett Brown there for years of mediocrity until they finally kicked into gear last season.

Jackson and Haley were fired 2 weeks ago.

Greg Williams is interim coach.

What that we are shit and the team has stopped listening to the coach???
Ummm, no. This point here which is the one I commented on before you went off on a tangent.

He gave them a spray after round 1, round 2 we got beaten by over 50. Sprays don’t seem to work anymore.

You say he shouldn't give sprays, others say he is too close, others say he is too intense. But none of you f**ken know.

You are looking at results and then trying to come up with reasons for why those results occurred that are too simplistic imo. The only thing that is irrefutable is the fact that we were poor last year and everyone contributed to that result. The rest of the commentary is just interpretation based on limited information.

There are ways of “encouraging” players to move on. If they realise they are zero chance of playing 1st grade next year with us, that’s pretty strong incentive to look elsewhere. What happens to their future earning capacity spending the previous year playing exclusively for Wenty?

They are much better served finding a roster spot somewhere they are a good chance of a top 17 roster spot.

If I understand what you are saying here, then we (the wooden spooners with the "worse squad" in the NRL in 2018), should be telling some of our 2018 top 17 players to go elsewhere so they can be top 17 players at a club with a stronger roster than ours... is there logic in there somewhere?

Are you saying that because we are wooden spooners we have the worst player in the competition in every spot on our roster?

We have too many jack of all trades -master of none in our squad. Other squads may need someone like that to round out their top 17.

Is that enough logic?

There are 3 players you were referring to based on your previous post.
Taka, Smith and French. Are they the jack of all trades, master of none you are talking about?

Smith would know he is not Top 17 but is an effective backup in about 3 spots.
French is currently the best FB option in our 2019 squad.
Taka is a current NZ international and would be the most likely to get a top 17 gig elsewhere. He is also one of only 2 players we attempted to shop around that we were prepared to pay part of his 2019 contract for.
