Where will SBW rank among the game's best ever second rowers?

And his main adversary for the #12 spot will be 33 at the next World Cup. I wouldn't worry about him missing rugby for two years. He missed league for 5 and came back stronger than ever. Even if initially he's seen as the bench player, he'll be given plenty of game time in the early rounds of the World Cup which might be enough to put pressure on the selectors. But who knows? He or Nonu might get an injury. Saili might have a barnstorming season in 2014. Lots of variables to consider.

now we have reached the point in the season where it's sudden death for Easts, and a loss will bring an end to Sonny Bill's rugby league career.

Since this thread began last year, SBW has won 2 minor premierships, a premiership, a Jack Gibson Medal (Easts player of the year 2013), played in a rugby league world cup final, won a World Club Challenge and brought his NRL games tally to over 100.

Has his achievements lifted him up to the game's elite?

why?

how many players have achieved multiple minor premierships, premierships, world cup titles & played heaps of first grade matches?

if this is your category, then there are a sh*tload of "elite" players.

JT ripped him apart last night. All second half he was streaming down his channel and particularly for the try he scored and the break that nearly ended in a try.

We all know that Sonny Bill is one of the best. Its just some of those arguing against him belong among the elite were saying things like he hasn't played enough matches (yet he's over double DallyM's tally, and will end up with a number comparable to Reg Gasnier) and lack of other achievements, which he has now achieved.

SBW is a top player ,an athlete , however he lacks the passion/heart of a special NRL player.

JT is a special player , all heart . I would place Sam B into that special category too. Not SBW.

And yet SBW has two legitimate Premierships. Two more than JT and Sam Burgess combined. Fancy that! (Not even JT includes his cameo bench appearances as a title).

Yep, no heart.

What an imbecile.

Premierships mean f**k all... Daniel Fitzhenry must be better then JT because he has one a premiership ?
Paul Whataweira has 2 so he is elite ?

Fair enough.

But anyone who can't see that SBW is one of the greatest forwards of all-time has some serious mental issues.

I seriously dont believe he is one of the greatest , one of the good ones for sure , great players remain at the top their whole career not show glimpses in the good times . Can you tell me if he was playing for the sharks for example would he stand out ? Has he set any records such as Bob Mc Carthy ? Has he suffered any career threatening injuries and overcome them to be at his best again say like a Wayne Pearce , has he toughed out the bad times and still given his club and the game his best ?
All these types of things determine greatness not just a selected highlights reel and potential.
