Widdop’s children are now living with their mother in Australia, with Widdop desperate to move closer to them.

A contract with the Warriors still has its obstacles given travel limitations and potential restrictions, but it could provide him with an opportunity to see them more regularly.

If he isn't looking for much money and wants to be closer to his Australia-based children, Warriors are an odd choice. Probably a few players who might be interested in his services.

I wondered if at the time the club asked the players about SJ, money came into it?
“Hey boys, SJ is interested in coming back but we’ll have to spend almost all of Rogers money on him”.
If that were me I’d be like heeeeelllll no.

If the club came back and said we can essentially get Reece, SJ, and someone like Woods or Lodge next year (factoring in Ah Mau leaving), then I’d be way more open to it.
SJ wants at least $750k from initial report's. But it may be slipping to reality. Some desperate club will get close to paying it?

First Manu, then Hynes, now Widdop. We're being linked to Five Eights, which is interesting considering Kodi has a year to go. Looks like the club is planning to replace him sooner than that.

Widdop isn't looking for much $$, wouldn't be upset if we did get him for a year. Seems like a stop gap move, obviously not long term. Perhaps they are looking for some experience to help CHT and Walsh's development.

And Jahrome Hughes.

It's probably as much an indictment on CHT and how they think he's progressing.

If Widdop's kids are in Aussie and he wants to spend more time with them, we'd be absolute nutters to sign him. Last I checked we aren't an Australian club. Once it opens back up in 2022, he's over here and his mind is over there. No thanks.

Warriors have some cash - being linked to every man and his dog at the moment.
Widdop being signed makes no sense.

Given the options on the table and given that a CHT/Nikorima combo clearly isnt the way to move forward, Widdop might actually be the best option

Granted only a couple of games in limited minutes but I've liked what I've seen of him. First time I saw him I was like f**k here we go storm got another giant. He's a big boy, but he's agile and can move around. Bit of spark in him too. Taken him a while to crack first grade so hopefully that motivates him to really cement himself next year, he won't be taking it for granted.

Does he bring a notebook to video reviews?
Apparently Harry Grant brought them to Tigers training last year and Benji was like WTF to him when he was reading it after meeting? Apparently Smith and Cronk always did, was expected practice at Storm.

Yea... I see this guy replacing Leeson, for less money.
I’d be surprised if this is the guy we replace Ah Mau with. Seems like a Bunty replacement, the 3rd or 4th pro to me. I hope we’re still looking around for that 2nd prop, hopefully a Woods, TPJ, Liu or Lodge type

With that level of experience seems more likely hes the replacement for Jackson Frei. Seems a bit of a gamble to be signing him as a top 4/5 prop

Prop Bunty Afoa has re-signed with the Warriors to extend his time at the club through to the end of the 2023 season.

Stuff can reveal that after prolonged negotiations the club has agreed terms for a new two-year deal with the 24-year-old, while has Afoa turned down approaches from other NRL clubs to remain a Warrior.

With Afoa re-signed, that just leaves Leeson Ah Mau, Tom Ale, Josh Curran, Jackson Frei and Sean O’Sullivan as the only Warriors players without a contract anywhere for 2022.
