Lawrence attack wise (except handling) is one of the best back rowers in the comp. Runs good lines and makes decent metres for his size after contact and does have an offload.

But he defends like a centre which is very bad for a back rower and has become slower laterally. He's a depth back rower now.

very poor hands lately..
Runs a decent line but very rarely breaks thru ..(think its 2 tries recently)
But very poor in defence this year.....
Have to disagree on him being one of the BEST though....WAS one of the best centres but not best backrowers.
Seems like a lovely guy though...lol

Aside from the players I'd love to see us sign Toovey as a coach, Steve Folkes to fix our defence and someone like David Boyle for fitness.

Besides players, new defensive coaches.

My bold in the following:

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the NRL coaching structure for the 2017 NRL season, with three assistant coaches forming part of a new-look team.

Head Coach Jason Taylor will be joined by Andrew Webster, Paul Stringer and Craig Sandercock for the upcoming season.

The highly-regarded Webster returns to the Club after spending the past two seasons as Assistant Coach of the New Zealand Warriors under Andrew McFadden. Webster coached Wests Tigers’ Holden Cup side to a finals appearance in 2014, while also assisting with NRL duties throughout that season, and brings a wealth of experience to the coaching team.

After a successful season as Head Coach of the Club’s Intrust Super Premiership side in 2016, Stringer will officially take up the position of an Assistant Coach with the NRL squad.

Craig Sandercock will continue his role with Wests Tigers in 2017, with the former Newcastle Assistant Coach implementing a number of successful structures during his first 12 months at the Club.

Sandercock, Stringer and Webster will all have various responsibilities within the new-look coaching structure for the 2017 season.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said one of the key focuses for the Club has been strengthening the resources available to the football department.

“We are delighted to welcome on board Andrew as an Assistant Coach for the 2017 season,” Pascoe said. “He joins Paul who will make the transition from our Intrust Super Premiership side that finished just one game short of the Grand Final.

“Both coaches join Craig (Sandercock) as assistants for the upcoming season and we are really excited with these appointments.

We believe that this structure will give the NRL side and Head Coach Jason Taylor every chance of success in the upcoming season.

“We have had a big focus on improving our Football Operations over the past 12 months and appointing three assistant coaches is an integral part of that,” he said.

Head Coach Jason Taylor stated his excitement at the new appointments as pre-season training officially gets underway on Monday.

“We are all really excited by the new coaching structure at the Club,” Taylor said. “It’s going to allow us to achieve some really detailed coaching, which is what we’ve been striving for.

“To have an extra Assistant Coach on the roster is going to be make a big difference to the quality of coaching that we can get done and I’m confident it will improve the overall performance of the team.

“Andrew (Webster) has been at the Club before and he is a great young coach who is really committed and passionate.

“Paul (Stringer) has done a great job over the last few years in developing himself to the point where I believe he is ready to step up into this role – I’m really excited by his skillset around the middle of the field from a defensive sense.

“Craig (Sandercock) built up a really great relationship with the players and they really respect his knowledge and coaching ability — he knows the players a lot more now after a season with us which means we can make even more improvements from an attacking perspective.

Both Paul and Andrew will work hard in the defensive side of things, while Craig will continue with the attack and I will oversee all of it.

That’s how the most professional Clubs in the competition are run and I’m really excited to be able to have that type of thoroughness across our coaching team,” he said.

Wests Tigers will confirm a number of other new appointments in the football department, including the new Holden Cup and Intrust Super Premiership coaches, over the coming days.

Yeah it's a shame with Chris. When he first moved to the back row mid way though 2015 he was absolutely terrific, as was his beginning to 2016. The back end of last year and the start of this year he has been very poor though. Sadly it's tough to see him getting any better.

Definately need more defensive coaches. Maybe 1 per player

In a weird weird way I'm actually more excited for this year than I have been since the start of 2012. We have an almost clear cap, a proven coach with full control, an excellent S&C department, and we have put our foot down when it comes to players expecting us to pay overs.

Lets say we re-sign Teddy and Woods, plus all the players we are linked to then our starting line up could actually look like:

1. Tedesco
2. Nofo
3. Whare
4. Hiku
5. Suli
6. Widdop (just throwing a name out there)
7. Brooks
8. Woods
9. MM
10. Mautilino
11. Lawrence
12. Mqueen
13. E. Taylor

14. Liddle
15. Ava
16. K Evans
17. Sue

This team is miles better than anything we have put on the field in years. We then have Felise, Alaoi, Marsters, Chee Kam all as depth

Always rated Matulino highly as a player. However whenever the Warriors 'bro culture' gets brought up his name tends to feature highly.

Kane Evans is going to Parra.

that is an interesting sign for your mob, unlike moses he was one of ours to start with..where as evans you would have thought would have been been more sympathetic to helping the club he grew up with....

obviously not its that bad.

OK, so that's the 2018 team I posted the other day. Given the news in the player market I would review:

1. Tedesco (Bird if he goes)
2. Nofoaluma
3. Suli
4. Whare
5. Feldt (doesn't even have to be Feldt, I'd take any capable young winger waiting in the wings who has decent pace and solid hands)
6. Bird (Foran/Watson if Teddy goes)
7. Brooks

13. Taylor
12. Guerra
11. McQueen
10. Woods (Matulino if Woods goes)
9. Liddle
8. Seumanufagai

14. Grant
15. Aloiai
16. Lawrence
17. Evans

18. MCK
19. McIllwrick
20. Marsters

Felise, Tatola, Eisenhuth, Jacobs etc to round out the 25. Probably need some young backs in the mix. I still think we need to have a tilt at Guerra. Without him we're one good second rower short. If we dipped at Cronk we'd probably have to forego the additional second rower.

There's so many ways we can approach this but the club will have to take on a direction sooner rather than later.
