Ray Price.
I was too young to remember him as a Union player, but it was no coincidence that Parramatta made their first grand final in his first year (1976) and won the comp in his last season (1986). In between those years they won another 3 premierships, runners up a couple of times and were up there every single year.
After he retired ............Nothing. It took I think 12 years for Parramatta to make the semi finals again (1998).

Jeff Wilson, just for the fact he excelled in 2 completely different sports

Yes, Jeff would get a vote from me - and Brad Thorn for the reasons quoted.
Re the first post...sbw has a long way to go to be a good 7s player but he'll get there I guess as everyone seems hellbent on giving sonny what he wants. Shame a real 7s player had to miss out in the interim...but that's his MO.
If you're lauding him for that offload which was a stupid speculator that happened to come off because someone with some nous was quick enough to realize it was coming & recover it, you should balance it with the other stupid one that kept SA in the game with their try.

Brad Thorn is the only player that excelled at both; likes of SBW are just fringe players.

But Hayne is playing a completely different sport so his in front

Michael O'Connor, Scott Gourley, Ricky Stuart, Jason Robinson, Brad Thorn, Matt Rogers, Sonny-Bill Williams, and Sam Burgess are the players in my time I can think of off the top of my head who have represented their country in both codes of rugby. There's probably some I'm forgetting. Williams would get my vote for being the best.

I had no idea he played cricket for NZ aswell.

Turns out he was also a National High School athletics champ and is apparently a handy basketballer.

All I really remember about him was he was the fastest player in the All Blacks team on Jonah Lomu Rugby.

Snowy Baker went OK.

Baker played 26 sports during his lifetime and excelled at most of them:
At the age of 13 Baker was the New South Wales open swimming champion for 110 and 220 yards (100 and 200m).
At 16 he played in the Australian Rugby Union team against Great Britain.
At 17 he was middleweight boxing champion of New South Wales, and
At 18 took the middleweight and heavyweight boxing titles of Australia.
Baker was also prominent at polo, water polo, cricket and diving, and proficient in surfing, fencing, hockey, rowing, yachting and equestrian events. He appeared at the 1908 London Olympics, representing Australasia in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, finishing fourth, and in the diving where he lost in the first round, coming seventh against the powerful Germans who dominated the sport at the time. He also took part in the Olympic boxing competition, where he lost the final match against Johnny Douglas, winning a silver medal

While Thorn's achievements are undisputed, his morals are questionable.
Good on him for being good enough to be picked, but making yourself available for Australia in league and NZ for union smacks of glory hunting.

didn't he place it down to which country he felt developed his ability in that sport? so learnt his league in oz so decided to represent them? though not sure if he played any rugby in NZ before relocating to aussie.

Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri both excelled in rugby union internationally. For a relatively poor side internationally, they both were players who could unlock the All Blacks and give Australia a chance.

In terms of Jeff Wilson, yes he was a very good cricketer, but he didn't play enough of it for mine. He really had one great moment, I think it was 46 not out to win an ODI against Australia at Hamilton in 93/93, IIRC he finished the job with a cult favourite Tony Blain.

What a load of crap.

Rules are rules and he followed them.

His record is undisputed and without peer.
