By al means get the plodder Ivan back.. he is a crap coach, but would be an awesome operation manager.

Stacey will be the guy to bring your first premiership, and he is ready IMO.

I do this alot, but please explain how a guy who made the finals 5 of 7 years from an absolute rabble he inherited, made a GF and a shandy off another with another club (who he also picked up from the canvas) is a plodder but a guy with little to no experience, with his only success being at Auckland club level and having not been that successful at NSW Cup, is ready and is the guy?!?

I never get the Ivan hate and never will. We lost the GF to a club in one of the great dynasties. He delivered consistent, enjoyable league you were proud to be part of. I remember the good times, especially now.

Ivan never won shyte, his teams play crap boring football and it is why he gets sacked. Ivan place is operations not coach.

Stacey is unproven, but worth a go.

I find your lack of faith in NZs best ever player disturbing.

Hey take Flanno, he is worse than Ivan.

Interviewer: 'What experience do you have in coaching at this level?'
Stacey Jones: 'None'
Interviewer: 'Impressive'

 well, worked for McFadden, and a host of other former Warriors coaches...

scary thing is Elliott actually had experience, yet they signed him and tried to argue it was some sort of coup...

Not keeping Cleary was one of the worst coaching decisions made for a long, long time. Cleary might coach boring footy but so does Wayne Bennet so it can work and boring footy is what the warriors need right now. Anyone acting like Cleary is a bad option now is silly, sure Jones or another rookie coach might work out better than Cleary but they also might be another Bluey or Cappy.

Warriors would be crazy to not be having a good look and Cleary and Toovey if they move on Cappy.

Warriors are F@cked because Cleary now looks the best option. He just got fired from the Panthers because he is incapable of winning a title, its beyond him. Cleary is not the answer, he loves 2nd rowers playing centre. He loves Rovellis, He loves Byrnes, he loves Plodders he can make careers out of at clubs like the Warriors desperate to take them. Cleary will never win shit and the Warriors should stay Clear. We would rebuild boring style for the next 3 years and fluke one finals series just to bundled out first game. Thats not progress.

There are only two coachs the Warriors should go after Daniel Anderson and Geoff Toovey. Toovey got shafted but is a firebrand and pretty intelligent guy with a point to prove! - he comes from a hostile club in Manly and knows what it takes to win.

Daniel Anderson had the Warriors playing the best football they ever played under his reign. He knows the kiwi strengths like no other coach. He is hostile in himself but probably has mellowed out a bit now. He loves Polynesian attacking footballers and gets the best out of them. I remember MR Effective telling me Daniel scared the shit out of him and boys. We won the 2002 minor premiership under Daniel and Opposition teams feared us. BRING HIM BACK

To add to the Daniel Anderson reign - he coached a lot of newcomers/nobodies at the time. The only popular player when Anderson came on was Stacey Jones, Campion and Ali. Guys like Toopi, Meli, Betham, Guttenbiel, Villasanti were rookies. So Anderson wasn't dealt a good hand to begin with but did excellent in the end.

Then he had success in Britain somewhere in the retirement leagues or super league or whatever they call it.

Why not Daniel Anderson? Who cares about how it looks like a 360 for the Warrior management. Wayne Bennett left Broncos and came back.

He got fired from the Panthers because Phil Gould is a hire and fire, act first think later coach. Gould had him painted as able to walk on water the year before. Two organisations have made BS decisions to move Ivan on.

Who gives a f**k if Ivan's style is boring? I remember 8-0 in the wet v the Storm at home, I've hardly enjoyed a game more. The grinding win v the Panthers away, where we were camped on our line for 50 minutes. Screw 26 points if we concede 34. Give me the Dragons grind to a premiership any day. You ever hear their fans say 'ah yeah we won our first ever joint venture premiership but it was boring footy, I really didn't savour the moment'. He didn't fluke finals wins. He beat good teams consistently. And who else other than the Rovellis, Byrnes etc were coming here? None. He either played those guys or kids. That could be a slight on him that he didn't advance too many kids, but guess who has? McFadden. Yep.

It's been said copious times but Bennett didn't win for a while, Gibson didn't, etc.

Anderson is too far removed from the game. It's passed him by. Toovey? Yeah, I'd have him. He might struggle in a professionally lacking environment though, it's all he's known to be in a fully firing one. Ivan is a culture changer. Toovey, not proven. Geezus, bring in Ivan for 2-3 years if you have to, until you get your ducks in a row for a big name coach. I dunno.

Has to be Ivan Cleary.

He has been our most successful coach in our history, the sooner he arrives the better.

At least get your facts straight. Ivan Cleary is not our most successful coach. Daniel Anderson won 6% more games than Cleary and also secured us the 2002 Minor Premership. No other coach has got us close to one of those ever.

There's some shockers in that list  Both in terms of who the powers that be hired, and the actual performances

Shame Monie was a myth, they genuinely tried to get someone good to start - but anyone that coached those Eels and Wigan was going to look ok

The fact of the matter Ivan has not said a thing about his future recently may suggest we got him on stand by. Doyle's will be forced to play the firing card due to lack of winning results. I can see more fans being happy with Ivan returning.

No point being entertaining if we leak points. The boring grind will have to suffice until we earn the respect of throwing the ball around like it's a training run. Cleary, Toovey, Kidwell or Anderson if Cappy goes

You don't really care about the Warrior despite your posting on Warrior matters.
I am a sharks fan, but I would be happy if you guys won, and wish you success.

I save my dislike for Brisbane, St George and Souths, my hatred is for Manly.
I can imagine the interview process now..

Interviewer: 'What experience do you have in coaching at this level?'
Stacey Jones: 'None'
Interviewer: 'Impressive'
So in your world no one gets a go unless they have been an NRL coach, haha.

Following his retirement from professional rugby league, Jones took up a role as player-coach for the Pt Chev Pirates, alongside Awen Guttenbeil He later worked as the Auckland Rugby League's Development officer.
Jones was appointed as the New Zealand Warriors Junior Recruitment and Pathways Coach for the 2013 season. He became the Junior Warriors head coach in the Holden Cup for the 2014 season and in his inaugural season the Warriors won the Cup, defeating the Brisbane Broncos 34–32 in the Grand Final.
In 2015 Jones will coach the Warriors side in the NSW Cup.
Decent apprenticeship IMO.

Tell you what take Flanno, and we will have Stacey (All though I would rather see him in NZ)
Plenty of great players have not made great coaches
No doubt, plenty have too, particularly ones who were smart players.

That's a typical job interview question to be asked about your experience in whatever job your going for. Also your post is not what I said. In my world it's common to get asked about experience in the job your going for. What about yours?
