Who replaces Cappy?

Can we all agree our next coach cannot be someone with no tangible experience as a head coach at senior (ie NRL or ESL) level?

It's just not Stacey's time. Nor was it McFadden's. Morgan I'd be okay with, given his success in England and plus marks for under Bellamy.

I know Doyle is continuing to support McFadden, and we should all expect that. The day he doesn't is the day the press release comes for his 'resignation'. Because he's a CEO who knows his coach needs his 100% support. But knowing his acumen, I truly believe he's made phone calls, or asked through agents. If we find out he hasn't and we either get another inexperienced interim/coach, or he persists with McFadden way too long, then we can criticise. Because this year CANNOT be written off. If we're 1-4, he has to go. If we miss the playoffs with this roster, the stench may last the rest of the decade.

And FYI, McFadden's record is now inferior, win percentage wise, to Elliott's.

Elliott: 29 games, 13 wins, 44.8%
McF: 43 games, 19 wins, 44.2%

We can't sack Cappy in the same way we sacked Elliott in the same way we sacked Bluey...it's getting ridiculous. We made our bed. We need to lie in it. Otherwise, no top coach will ever get into bed with us.

Just don't bloody extend his contract as soon as we string 3 games together.

Nothing surer than we'll string three games together mid season, and on that basis McFadden will likely seek another extension

Typically the coaches don't even have to ask for it.

How long would you give Cappy, based on a less than 50% win ratio which is where he's operating? (no malice in the question, I'm genuinely interested)

If we're still making the same dumb defensive errors, dropping pill, showing no sign of improvement, I'd have him gone before round 10 against the Panthers in Chch if we aren't at least 4 wins.

And hell, that's a challenge. Apart from the Knights in round 4 at home (may as well be fired if we lose that one) we have the Storm twice, Broncos away, Roosters away, Manly our bogey team, the Dogs in Wellington and the Dragons another bogey side. Where's four wins in there? We'll need to buck our act up. If we're still shit, he goes. Next guy gets reigns for Panthers Raiders in NZ ahead of a bye and another week to get bedded in. Makes sense to me.

As I said, maybe in this thread, we cannot sacrifice this year to blind faith in an incompetent coach due to the hiring and firing of a previous dunce CEO.

Problem is, there's every chance he'd get replaced by yet another incompetent coach. We've had two coaches in our entire history (arguably three, if you count Monie) that haven't proven to be incompetent. The act of yet another Warriors coach getting the chop mid-season and the disruption that it causes is a big gamble to take and the Warriors chances of actually attracting a name coach would likely get even slimmer.

This thread begs the question; is it all the coaches fault?
Maybe there is some ingrained problem at the club: players, support staff, culture, management, travel etc that is causing the failure. Not just the coach.

Has anybody considered Brian Smith. I see he has just 'quit' Wakefield.
I'm not sayiing he should replace Cappy, but just adding another name into the mix.

That's a diplomatic 'Yes'. He'll come back.

If the Warriors upset Brisbane on Friday night he can forget about it for a while. If certain players don't want Cappy around then all they have to do is not try very hard over the next few games, they have their coach's destiny in their hands, not the other way around it seems.

One thing's certain on Fri night, unless there's something on that we can't get out of (i.e. work) then we know what we'll be doing. On paper it's a mouthwatering match-up, the match of the round, surely.

No mate... it's the coach...

Cappy has the reigns. He has full control. However when the players take the field.. he only controls so much.

Selections and the sets are what I'm hating on and Cappy is responsible for that.

Hmmmmmmmm, so is that a yes or no , Miss Tackles ?
Not entirely his fault. Players always can take some of the blame especially when there's enough experience there and that's stating the obvious.

With the new signings, he now has the goods and so we want instant gratification. After some thought, I think we should wait for the next 2 games to judge Cappy and what he's done with our team. Who knows we might win the next 2 games convincingly with clinical sets like the Storm on Monday night.

Maybe. He's not looking good, 9-blot nrl games, humbled by a Dragons side in Nelson, not at all convincing by a thrown together QRL all stars side up in Whangarei. .

The only shining light is Stacey Jones who took us to a grand final in the 9's..

If I was Cappy, I would be making arrangements. .
