After the way him and hunt finished at Brisbane that’d give Benny something else to sook over
I liked the Ennis piece on Hunt, Ennis saying its time hunt stepped up, time he earnt his million bucks, time he showed character.
Hunt made 1 run for 5 metres.
As Ennis says, run the ball Hunt, then things might fall in place for you.

We brought him here to stop our late season fade outs, paying him a million to stop it.

Now he is part of the problem damn it.

Right now the poll is 86% yes. If I asked the same question about any other coach besides Bellamy, I think the poll would be less than 50% yes. I was right, Saints fans do have Faith in Bennett. If he is he next year and beyond, it will be very interesting if this faith I speak of can help us win another comp. lol

Those who have faith in Bennett would say it has nothing to do with Faith and everything to do with Bennett.

I think many Saints fans believe in Bennett. Some even think of him as the Messiah. It is like they have Faith that Bennett can win us another comp. I thought I would do a poll on how many people think that we will/would win another comp if Bennett was to come and coach us for the next 3 years. I seriously wonder if that Faith that I speak of could play a part on us winning another comp. Pangai Junior and a few good outside backs would also help.
The Bennett dynamic goes something like this:
1. Bennett would take the guts of our current squad and enhance it significantly.
Now whether that includes Pangai Jr., Roberts and others, it doesn't matter.
He would not come to St.George to make up the numbers nor would he tolerate performances like Parra and the Dogs.
The fact is he would attract a raft of quality players PLUS he would pluck the best out of the younger brigade.
He would also not be afraid to make decisions like playing Widdop and FB or Hunt at hooker if that was the best for the team.
Even though Hunt may be a little sour, he may actually be relieved to play under the auspices of Bennet now that he's had a good dose of McGregor.
2. Bennet would be all powerful and run the football team, his way and with his hand picked staff including (significantly) JD.
That means most of the incumbents would be shown the door.
He would immediately take the factions and board out of the equation and knuckle down to the task of winning premierships. No compromises.
3. Bennett would be super motivated to depart coaching on a high and on his terms.
What better way to do that other than to take the most famous club in Rugby League to yet another Premiership.
I believe Bennet is a massive traditionalist and that is one reason he would like the St. George challenge.
4. Legacy - Over 2 or 3 years he would be grooming our club for a bright future and pass the baton onto Jason Demetriou who will follow in Bennet's footsteps.
The next Craig Bellamy if you like.
Demetriou will be great FG coach

So if anyone could deliver another premiership, it would be him.
For sure he would leave the place in better shape that he found it and we would also inherit one of the best young coaches in the businesses to perpetuate success.

If Bennet decides to come here, he will have a vision and I think it would be a phenomenal development for our club that will restore some pride in our jersey.
That's what I think anyway.

Thoughtful and well crafted. But there is a monolithic Board holding the Dragons back from all that you write. I can’t see them budging and instead we see McGregor next year as head coach and throw away another season.

Yep and everyone in the media that has commented on his form has said he needs to run the ball more and most on this forum too ( the real experts)!

But when?
Our forwards are not bending the defensive line, we get no quick play the balls to get the defence back peddling.
A good half will run the ball when he sees the defence running backwards to get onside.
Hunt seems to get the ball with the defence up in his face.
Plus the “game plan” is all mistake free one out football.
Mary has Graham or JDB at first receiver half the time, if Hunt was first receiver he may have time to have a run at the line, but that’s not the current game plan.

Not defending Hunt, his form has been abysmal, just pointing out all the problems we are facing stem from lack of game plans.

Yep agree just my observation though

Conditioning staff and coaching staff are the cause of the problem. Point your finger at them.

I am very afraid that what you say will come true but at some point, the people behind McGregor's tenure must be held accountable..
Is WIN going to tolerate more of the same or are they going to step in and do something about it?

Over the next couple of months we will see what style of management we have. I hope it is not more of the same but am not confident we will see any significant change.

I voted no, i think he is past it and it's now about him, his future and his retirement. When he gets walked from Broncos i can't see him getting another club. His my way or no way attitude with players and everyone is too stifling and has run it's tenure. Has lost the dressing room it's obvious and thats why the Bronco's have gone after other coaches, it's quite interesting that no Bronco's players have publicly come out in his support ?
He's only strength is that he doesn't suffer incompetent dumb wit interfering boards and management so with that in mind i'd entertain the thought of him being a manager (similar to premier league) a huge block in between a good coach and those dickhead board that we have.

Possum, even good halves in poor teams can give it a shot.
Thurston still runs it hard at times, if he played what was in front of him, there are opportunities.

Look at the instance last game when he kicked the ball off his own knee 6 mts out, he could have ran hard, dummied and ran, stepped and tried to get through, or even kicked and chased.

Instead he came up with a timid play.
One run for 7 mts

No excuse

And yet our forwards and halves dominated the competition in the first half of the season, so surely it can't be the players. It is not a one off, it has happened for the past few seasons while Mary was in charge.

Strangest occurrence I have seen now that it has happened for the past few years possum. Stranger still is that we have not learnt how to stop it even with new players coming on board. Geeze, did someone curse us?

Let me answer the original question thusly:

We have a great roster with a blend of young local talent, rep players and hardened veterans who are clearly one of the superior squads in the comp but seemingly cannot make that next step under the personable but ultimately inept long-term coach who is also a former player.

That could describe this squad, or it could equally describe the situation at the end of 2008.
