The new board have stated they are looking forward to working with Grant Mayer, so there's some bad news for those wanting him punted. That's also going to upset those who want Potter axed as well, given Mayer's support for Potter publicly earlier in the year before the media beat ups about punting Potter came out. With no GM of Football appointed you would imagine that the board would be looking to continue to steady the ship, so I reckon we'll see an announcement relating to Potter's contract extension being finalised in the coming weeks.

Potter is long odds to be around in 2015 especially if Mayer is still with us.Also the GM of football operations job suggests to me they are looking at A young cheaper inexperienced NRL coach like Payten or Kidwell, because they have two wages to pay. Also a guy like Griffin who probably had total control of the football operation is he going to want to be answerable to a person between him and the board?????.

I like Potter, but after the last two months we have to make a fresh start, we just can not afford the risk of the same thing happening next year and poor Mick should and will be the first scalp

Agree, but the thing I find strange, as I read it, the board will meet on Sunday to determine a head coach, yet the new GM will have control of the football club including the head coach & they haven't appointed him/her as yet?

Maybe they want a coach named to be able to start the hiring of players, while the GM process may take a bit of time??

Anyway, it looks right the right steps are being made, hopefully it will show up next year in our results.

Potter seems like a decent chap but it is pretty obvious that the players have not responded to his coaching for him to be retained, some of his early season selections and non-existant game plans were puzzling, but that doesn't excuse the way the board went about white anting him, hopefully the next coach will be given a fair go !

Thats it for me,Potter has got a raw deal, but his early team selections when no one was injured was plain stupid, you reap what you sow.

I think Potter got it right at times. He did put 4 forwards on the bench and our top strength side wasn't bad. Koro being let go and keeping Richards to me was a huge mistake as was Anasta over Austin.

Maybe his later really poor decisions were partly based upon the 2nd tier salary cap.

In saying that he has had 2 poor seasons and our squad isn't that bad. Injuries have played their part but injuries are going to happen and its not like we are unique.

Hadley on 2GB was saying that the only applicant they have so far is Griffin.

As he said, getting someone from outside, hence no Payten and Kidwell and from the Bennett mould would be the best thing the TIgers could do.

Without doubt they have to get a outsider in to do the job, if they go with Kidwell or Payten its to much of the same. We need a total re vamp, we do not need to try and reinvent what we already have.

I think Griffin would be great, although he would need time and 100% support'

Like others I would have thought the GM of football operations would have been sorted before the coach but maybe Brian Smith has already sorted out who will be coaching!!!!!!!!!

Give him the job then,he made some real ballsy calls at brisbane, sending Hannant and Reed to qld cup,he took the captaincy of Thaiday and his game improved, some of that leadership is needed on our prima donas.
He also is well liked among players who wanted him kept over Bennett,so he might have some players willing to follow him south,I like the idea.

What 851 said ^^
We need someone to make the hard calls on players and without the white ants hustling for the job.
Someone with no attachment to the club.

I cant imagine how things would be with Payten as coach.

Yep we probably need some body like Griffin, well liked and respected, the one concern that is alarming is that the resources and talent pool the Broncos have, you would then think they would make the 8 every year.

Griffin missed finals three years in a row.........

And he might not be any better than Potter or Payten or Kidwell but he is a change and maybe we need it.

Like I said earlier as well anyone not currently coaching a first grade team will want the job. I also think whoever gets the job deserves 2 years. Personally I'd give the job to Potter assuming that he rumors of players thinking he is crap are just rumors.

I believe Potter has to be coach. He has bought the young kids through well and built a forward pack we have never had at wests tigers before. Let's face it we were only 3 wins (possibly 2 if the warriors get beat) from a finals berth.

The wheels only fell off when the Tallis/Farah/board situation blew up.

I also feel Robbie needs to have a long hard look in the mirror and ask himself if he wants to be a leader of men or a sook.

If anyone should bring the young guys through is Sheens. He is a big part of why they are here.
I'd take on 2 years and f**k off deal. No extensions.

No fonz thanks... that egotistical prick would just take over and the new coach would be a puppet.
