On 2sm tonight Peter Tunks said he'd heard that the dragons wanted to talk to Sheens but wasn't to sure that Sheens was so keen.Anyway I would of thought that the club had already spoken to Sheens? In truth the only person probably spoken to is Mary.

Do you think Sheens "Would bring that"?

I think it depends on early success or not. Sheens had some mixed results with the Tigers but at the same time I used to love some innovative things he did with set plays from the scrum etc. He certainly is high profile but I doubt he could bring the dollars in like Bennett and as such I don't imagine he'd be offered the same coin. If he had a successful 1st year he'd be back up the top but as I said he needs that success.

I'm sure the only two things that could be holding up an announcement of Sheens as head coach are:

Doust playing money games; trying to get even a better deal than he first spoke of.

The Board has made a decision and do not want to announce it until season's end.

Or
HE ISN'T EVEN CONSIDERED.

I don't think that just McGregor and Sheens ( or Taylor) that are the club's supposed frontrunners for the job next year. Cartwright would have to be looked at and most definitely Anthony Griffith, who has been short changed by the Broncos. Broncos games are basically two out of three Friday night games over the year and I have watched them...because it's all that's bloody on. They are not as bad as their position states. I think Brisbane because they are who they are just expect instant success, also known as wankers. However, Griffin; he has brought a young bunch of blokes up, made a good halfback out of Ben Hunt, a good front rower out of McGuire, blooded those wingers and that tall centre well, and dropped players who were not playing well like Hannant, Reed and Martin Kennedy. Griffin, is not too bad of an option, personally, I think he would have a bit more dressing room gafte than that of Taylor or Sheens, and his 'experience' would outweigh Marys'. The options are not too limited, and as a majority want to look outside of ex-players, coaches of Saints and Illawarra, Griffin is worth a look.

Will Farrell . He can't coach either but he'd lighten the place up and he'd do great Doust impersonations as well as his own media release's

Hook is just about the only coach who is available for next season that I would be happy with. Has a pretty good record above 50%, has done well bringing through young players and has through all this turmoil maintained his dignity and the respect of the players. He also has a massive point to prove as a coach after being shafted like he did.

Given the number of experienced coaches available, I wouldn't mind if was Sheens or Griffin however, I would be more than disappointed if it was Mary.

I want our team to be competitive again. Up there in the top 4 in 2015.

Why don't Saints do something outside the box like Souths or Roosters. They went for coaches in the ESL and are now killing it. Why do they only look at the NRL. Cowboys also went for an NRL rookie and are killing it now.

I know Saints tried that with Price but the issue wasn't the initial appointment of Steve Price it was how long they gave him. It was good that they gave him a run but after 12 months you could see he had nothing to offer. He was definately not a man to make them a top 4 outfit. They need to get a new guy and just expect him to improve the squad. After a year if the see there is no improvment then see ya later aligator. Price's first year was shocking and if it was not for beating the teams coming last in the final 2 rounds or so they would have finished where they deserved to finish and that is 3rd or 4th last.

If they are only limiting their search to the NRL then Jason Taylor is the man if they are looking for a guy with some NRL experienced or even Jim Dymock. Trent Barrett is doing well at Penrith and being in the same coaching set up as Cleary will definately bring some of that knowledge accross which can only be a good thing. Best of all he can probably bring some good forward talent accross from Penrith. They have a heap of great forwards coming through and they can't keep them all.
