The Maroons will need to win for another 7 years for that to eventuate- and I just can't see Thurston, Cronk, Slater and Smith playing for that much longer. Or Mitchell Pearce being given that many more chances at halfback...

That'll mean I will be able to count to 16 - we're half way there.

It's kind of amazing that after NSW had won 3 Origin series in a row, when Mal took on the coaching job he announced that he wanted QLD to win 10 series in a row. Anybody listening to his statement must have thought the idea to be purely in the realm of the pipe-dream. The Blues were clear favourites to take their run to a then unprecedented 4 series wins in a row.

Fast forward to 2013 and the Maroons have achieved an unbelievable 80% of Mal's pipe-dream with the firm possibility that the QLD team can add at least one more consecutive series to that total.

What was considered outside of possibility, 10 series wins in a row, now doesn't seem quite so unachievable.

That applies to any remarkable run of success. How many people would have predicted Manchester United to beat Liverpool to 20 league titles in 1990? Mal would have been talking out of his arse to fire his troops up.

Comparing apples to oranges.

No one stepped forward from MU prior to the first win and said that the eventual outcome was the goal.
