If someone said to me before the game that we would lose on full time by a field goal I would've been ok, knowing we put in a good effort.

We did put in a good effort, but we had that game. I really hope the guys can take positives away from it and not focus on how we lost even though Manly we're pretty terrible.

I don't blame him for letting the ball bounce tbh but he is such a fatty these days Taufua beat him to the ball with ease.

Yeah getting outrun by Taufua is pretty bad, our props are fast than our wingers.

The biggest positive will be if we acknowledge the biggest negative. Won't happen though.....

At least they had a go. For that reason I look forward to cheering them on next game. Most clubs go through tough times but effort is all we can ask for from the players themselves. They busted their guts and were all devastated at the end. They could have easily packed it in before kick-off with everything that's gone on this year and this week but they didn't, and I can't remember a time that they have in the last couple of years. There are a few clubs out there that I don't think can say the same thing every week and I am so glad not to be a fan of those teams.

We lack a lot of class, but I think now is a time to be proud of the players honestly.

I just came back from overseas two weeks ago so I haven't been keeping as close an eye on our games. This is the first full game I've watched since I got back. I knew results had been bad but everybody said how "courageous" the loss to Canterbury was and apparently that blow out against Penrith was "a write-off" but oh well, this time it's Manly at Brookvale so win or lose, just let's hope they do us proud.

Not even that. They gave me just enough reason to believe they were turning the corner at last- beginning the mid-season run that ended so well last year. Then they go and give me every reason just to follow them via social media for the remainder of the season because watching the actual events unfold is just too draining on my energy...

I used to admire Gidley- but after tonight I think I'd admire him most if he would stop allowing his bad judgement to affect the fortunes of his team and move on...

Well said, JM. I'll look forward to the next match a lot more than I looked forward to this one.

I just don't know how much longer I can cop Gidley, though. It's beyond a joke. Yeah, he's making a lot of tackles... but he constantly astounds me in the new ways he constantly finds to have a negative impact on the team. It's like he has made a game out of it.

This.

As shattering as it was to see them all on the ground at full time, at least it showed they cared about what happened tonight.

Surely that's an encouraging sign.

Well said. I was hoping they'd dig in and they didn't disappoint. A few very silly errors from the usual suspects was the difference. I feel for them.

I have no ill-will towards Gidley, but I agree. Has to go soon, and we can only hope things are going on behind closed doors to facilitate that. They would never make it public so for all we know they could very well be, and I will wish him well in England.

Just found out under 20s suffered their first defeat, 40-38 :(

I guess they were missing Mamo and Tapine.

Yeah the loss is heartbreaking, we should have won that game but we're just not talented enough.

Can't cop Mullen getting blamed for not taking a field goal though and can't cop Kurt Gidley.

Missing Sione too.

Still, to lose at the death isn't too bad given the team's position. I think we're still in a good position to finish the year with a huge positive with the Under 20's nabbing the premiership.

You're not likely to go the season undefeated, they had to lose some time. To lose by 2 points while some of your best players are off with other commitments isn't too shabby for the NYC lads. We have so much talent in the youth... surely some of them are going to be first grade guns? Can we at least get 2 or 3 genuine stars out of them please?

Oh, and someone said it somewhere during the game and I agree... Mamo needs more weight to be viable in first grade. Too small at the moment for any position long term.

Tapine looks like a very good long term prospect, too. A bit out of his depth at the moment at this level, but is definitely a handful when he gets a run.

I can't believe Wayne decided to keep Gids in the pack after his stints at hooker. He has a go in D, but he is too small and lacks the fitness to defend in the middle for too long. Manly were gaining momentum towards the end by running at him. It's bad enough he pretty much cost us the game with his failed conversion attempt.

As much as I hate Gidley and he played a huge part in that loss it was certainly a team effort to lose from there.

Actually, I don't feel sorry for them, I don't care about luck. We are reaping what we sow. Soft options and piss weak management is on display for all to see.

Tough clubs find a way forward, make the tough calls and prosper. We don't.

But I'm making my call, until they put a flamethrower through the place, burn down the village and salt the soil, I'm not wasting any more time or more importantly money until they can prove to the world that they have learnt their lesson and the tough calls have been made.

Personally it might only account for $1500 per year in tickets and clothing but they need to learn a hard lesson and right now they haven't.

For what its worth, I had been preparing a submission regarding a sponsorship proposal for one of my brands which is number one in our primary segment. We wouldn't have been naming rights sponsor but I would have thought it would have been shorts or perhaps the stadium.

In all honesty, I can't proceed with it whilst ever we are such a train wreck.........................
