Will 2014 be any better?

Galloway was definetaly dissapointing after he came back from injury, not sure if he was only half fit as I thought he was great last year.

Every game I've watched Taupau in forthe dogs he has one really well, surprised me he hasn't played more first grade tbh

I am hoping Taupau works out, he looks like he has some mongrel. Nathan Brown migt come into the mix as well. No way of telling whether Paterson will be a darkhorse too or another Ryan O'Hara but you can only hope

I must say im not totally against Moltzen in 6 , he offers more than Anasta and still young enough to improve. Im just worried Kori wont make the cut :(.

Moltzen played some good footy at the start of the year. He is a hole runner with enough ability to feed the centres and Brooks will be the general which takes the heat off him. Who knows if it will work, but Anasta is past it. I haven't seen enough of Austin to comment.

Koro is a little on the outer you would think - unless Lawrence gets the tap on the shoulder to bulk up for the back row. But I would like to give Lawrence another shot. Apparently he carried a foot or leg injury this year, something that severely hampered his speed and mobility in defence. If that is true he probably warrants another shot.

Injuries are never kind to us though so one way or another Koro will play first grade you would think.

Next year we have a lot to be optimistic about with all the young kids a year older, but unless someone can set some defensive strategies and teach them
how to tackle we are in for another dud year. A lot of our kids are great with ball in hand but are well below par when it comes to defense.Lets hope a off season in the gym and on the paddock doing drills will do the trick. I just hope we can offload all the players who are seen to be surplus to requirements and start it fresh in 2014

I have confidence in Potter to make the correct decisions about who plays in what positions. Agree that defensive structure will be a priority for next year.

Keep in mind defence is very much a mental thing as well as structure and with a fresh start and a competitive team I think their effort will improve and boost our defence enormously.

I am also concerned about the lack of speed and leg drive of our forwards. Sloth Galloway, Bell and young Buchanan are at best amblers. If you want to be critical, than Woods is also an ambler and far too often reverses into the opposition. We cannot look through rose coloured glasses because if we want to be competitive this has to change as being dominated and penetrated every year is still NOT the answer.
The forwards play one out football and are easily nullified, resulting in little platform being achieved.
Wrestling technique is poor compared to other teams. This is one reason why we are at the wrong end of the penalty count.
I acknowledge that salary cap pressure has required players to be fast tracked into the nrl. Players such as Shaun Spence are clearly out of their depth but have to be utilised.
Adam Blair has little effect and clearly does not justify the enormous outlay for his 'services'. Terrifies the halves but has negligible impact with opposition props.
Even allowing for the inexperienced players, it still does not disguised the fact that we do not play as a team. I often wonder what they do at training. Surely they do not train the way they play!
I also think that Robbie Farah has not been near his best since the SOO. With all this shit going on within the board, alleged player revolt/s and disillusioned team mates it is a little wonder that we cannot even score points or defend anything. Defence is an attitude and leaving it to your mate is unacceptable.
One thing for certain is that we have to change because we are not that far ahead of the wooden spoon.
Players have to solidify behind the coach and re establish that word - PRIDE.

Cant disagree with any of that Dumpy.. Its ok so say so and so makes 10 metres but if he achieved that by practically walking that distance it really hasnt gained the advantage of either sucking in defender's to prevent an offload or line break or also forcing the defenders to rush back on side. Our forwards are so easily dominated the oppositions line is already set while their tacklers are easily holding up then dropping them at will to roll them around on the ground. When we are defending its just a matter of trying to hold our own . Its shithouse and has been for a decade and needs to change for us to have any hope in the future. Buy some muscle ffs!!!!

Is Payten coming in as an assistant going to help our forwards. I recall a time when we couldn't win without him (maybe I'm delusional)

I'd like to think his presence alone would lift the forwards somewhat.

I don't like the idea of having Trent Barrett being involved in any way with Brooks.

Mostly because Barrett was never that good and he was a lock/five eighth, very similar to Anasta.

I'd prefer a genuine 7 train Brooks, like Johns.

I thought Johns was Contracted exclusively to Manly? If not we should be breaking his door down to get him to to the Tigers.

If i were the NRL i would be paying Johns to set up a training clinic for all Halves in NYC to make sure this trade is not lost. Easier said than done though.

I think we have a fine coach in Matt Head who coached the Balmain SG Ball team. I wonder what he thinks of Armstrong going to Manly?

Tim Simona is undergoing a shoulder reconstruction tomorrow. I didn't even realise he had an issue with it, did anyone else ? Is this likely to put he out for the start of next season ?

Yeah, like Teddy playing through some pretty considerable pain for a while.

It will hurt him having no real off season but we have depth in the outside backs to allow him to get back to full fitness if need be

Where did you hear this???

Its a shame as he was named in the NZ training squad for World Cup. If he was given a run the experience he would gain would be enormous.

Was that Blake Austin that was playing 6 for Windsor Wolves yesterday, only caught the last 10 minutes. If anyone saw the game appreciate your thoughts on how he went???
