Will 2014 be any better?

Please, before you sink lower with your childish retorts and inability to reason, How has Mick Potter done damage to the club?

One win against a side struggling and you believe we have turned the corner. Sorry my standards are a bit more demanding.

Lack of cohesion in both defence and attack. Gameplans, what the hell are they? The post match press conferences.

A radio announcer in frustration asking if the WTs had any other type of attacking move other than a second man play which he said with sarcasm may not work against Jaime Lyan and the Wolfman.

The signing of a reserve graders in Keith Lulia and Patterson. Both have been at more than one club and failed. Wasn't Bennett at one or both of those clubs at some stage in each of these players' careers? I'd be interested to learn as I understand he is a pretty reasonable judge of talent.

Brooks as halfback is going to make such a massive difference next year. We are probably going to get pummelled by souths next week without him but im looking forward to seeing BMM produce another barnstorming effort

Don't you believe this is a concern believing we have no chance of winning? Have expectations dropped to such an extent we are happy with a win against a struggling side?

R2Coupe - I think you are way over the top. Yes we beat a struggling side and it hasn't much to get excited about. We have also been poor for most of the season and the club has been a mess.

The thing is at the same time I think it is pretty hard to be harsh on Potter. Playing Anasta to me is the wrong decision. Taking Robbie off was probably wrong. Maybe benching Benji was also the wrong decision. I think lots of high calibre coaches though would have made more mistakes.

I just think Potter deserves some time. I think he communicates well at press conferences.

I didn't expect to win in Sheens last year either.

Just like I never expected any forward he coached to make consistent hard metres

Credit goes to all coaches involved in his development. Greg Lenton and Sheens especially. Potter to a lesser extent. Young players improve and mature.

BMM was a lazy slob for three years under Sheens, so what is the credit for?

He's never looked like a quality player, until now.

BMM is one of Lenton's classic rough diamonds which is probably the reason he is at WTs. He was always going to be a project but well worth the wait. I would never describe him as you have and it is probably the reason Lenton is such a huge success at recruitment. He can see potential in rough diamonds whereas others see lazy slobs. Remember he was 150kgs when he arrived at Keebra Park.

How do you explain Galloway, Woods, Ellis and Dwyer? Forwards who I think would have been picked in most NRL teams.

Lenton deserves much credit, of course. I've always thought BMM was worth persisting with, but he was lazy and disinterested over the past few years. I also thought he was misused by Sheens but he wasn't the only one.

Fact remains that BMM did not develop at all under Sheens in three years and it is only now under Potter that he is looking good.

So Potter surely deserves some credit for that.

Ellis was developed in the UK and we can thank Buckets for sending him our way. Galloway is a good player but have always felt he could run harder that he does.

For every example you provide there is another example of a forward that Sheens coached the aggression out of.

And let's not mention Fifita, who is now an Origin player.

I gave Potter credit in my earlier post. BMM is a particular favourite of mine so his improvement is pleasing.

There were many including yours truly who agreed with moving Fifita on.

Sheens was there a long time and I did not agree with all his decisions. Mistakes were made and it was most unfortunate we lost Prince, Tuiaki, Dwyer and Lui. These were not average players.

Favourite of mine too, I've always said he was worth persisting with. Size and aggression, exactly what we need.

I tried to make sense of the decision and could only base it on the form he showed for us.

However, given his development under what most would consider an average coach in Flanagan, it was very obvious that Sheens got this one horribly wrong.

Again, I think it comes down to the fact that Sheens did not like aggressive forwards, Ellis aside. We lacked power and aggression in the forwards for Sheens' entire tenure. It was very frustrating.

We have beat this Fafita/Sheens thing to death. They are gone.
2014 will be finals football or I'll consider it a failure.

The thing that you would have to grasp is my less then zero opinion of the culture that existed at WT under Sheens to see why I genuinely think he destroyed the team he assembled and that Potter was on a hiding to nothing this year with the rabble remaining and jokes like Royce and Georgie boy at the club

Everyone needs to get over Sheens and Fifita. I can remember many games where I thought Fifita was a undisciplined, uninterested error machine. When he left I didnt think it would be the end of the world but the way people go on about it it may aswell be.

He came good at the Sharks not the Tigers. Maybe it was Gallens leadership or the change of scenery? Doesnt matter its too late. We have some solid forwards coming through so lets learn from our mistake and make sure they are given support from us as the fans and WT
