Will 2014 be any better?

Everyone needs to get over Sheens and Fifita. I can remember many games where I thought Fifita was a undisciplined, uninterested error machine. When he left I didnt think it would be the end of the world but the way people go on about it it may aswell be.

He came good at the Sharks not the Tigers. Maybe it was Gallens leadership or the change of scenery? Doesnt matter its too late. We have some solid forwards coming through so lets learn from our mistake and make sure they are given support from us as the fans and WT

Fafita was barely given a chance!

He would be picked on the bench and play about 8 minutes.

Not sure how that makes him an "error machine" over suck holes like Moltzen who would put in pea hearted performances week after week but continue to be picked.

I don't want any of us to forget the diabolical f**k up that led to his departure.

I hope he keeps rubbing those Origin & Kangaroo jerseys in our faces for years to come.

At least Potter seems to have a bit better idea about recognising, playing and more importantly keeping young talent.

It was just a big ego thing with Sheens, he wanted to let Fifita know who was boss.Okay Iam all for letting the coach set the standards, but you cant treat all player the same. Obviously Flano at the Sharks knows how to use the big unit.

I'm just saying whats done is done. Focus on using the young forwards we have properly and the whole team will lift

I agree entirely. I'm so over hearing people whingeing about the past here.

Our past couple of years absolutely sucks and some terrible decisions were made. Very few people disagree with that proposition. But please, can we please move on and accept what's happened?

Sorry - I can't let this one go just yet. Maybe when he retires then I'll let it go. It has to be the worst retention decision of all time.

I have to disagree.

Its the same as having a child that struggles at math, yet you spend all your time yelling at your wife about how your ex-wife never helped your other child out with homework and that's why the entire family is ruined.

Maybe thats a bad analogy but I think we should use the Fifita drama as a learning lesson to concentrate on the young talent we have....which we are doing.

I think we now have a good coach and a good manager who won't make the same insane blunders that Sheens & Humphries did. I don't see Potter & Mayer letting any good young talent escape. What shits me is self pronounced experts who are always crapping on about what league experts they are, yet a look at the archives shows they were quite complacent about Fifita being shown the door when he was exactly what the team needed.

Brendan Santi is off to the Eels and if the word is correct Rhys Armstrong to Manly.

Armstrong is a Balmain junior via Holy Cross College, NSW U16 and NSW U18 teams. Both have excellent pedigree.

Seems to be a case of "good young talent" escaping. But by all means please continue with your latest work of fiction.

So Coupe, they have to keep every single 18 year old that passes through the junior ranks?

There is a difference between a mountain of a bloke with obvious ability and NRL experience who was already under contract being let go, and losing an 18 year old to Manly who have probably paid double than what we can as we already have 20 other juniors signed up.

I was disappointed that Santi left to go to the eels but he was offered a contract by them, so he had to look after himself.
I watched young Armstrong play against the best from Queensland and he was the difference and a five eighth too, solid and strong. I understand it was only one game but they did win the competition.

I can accept that we will lose some juniors. That is going to happen. What I don't like is when players step up in first grade and don't just look good but instead look like killers and we just let them go. Fifita is in that category. The thing is lots of players won't make the step up to first grade - I just hope we keep the right ones.

Wests, Penrith and Parramatta feed the competition, of course we will lose juniors to other clubs.

You don't have a turnover of 17 players in your first squad every season so it's inevitable that you will lose some talented kids in the 20's to other clubs, especially where they may be chance to see regular FG.

It's just my opinion but I think potter will be made to look stupid if he lets Matt Groat leave. The guy has won multiple mom awards in the VB cup this season but can't get a run. I watched his performance against nz at Campbeltown and he was involved in everything.

I'm not saying groat is in the fifita class but he deserved a shot this season

Problem with Groat is that we need someone to come back and change his style back to his previous one.

He is now locked into running high on the balls of his feet, stuttering his gait and having an upright body position off a short run. It ruins his effectiveness as a first string option.

I don't know that we will be able to justify his retention with this problem considering the genuine depth we have rising through the front row ranks

The context in which the original comment was made is important. You will need a pooper scooper to filter the manure.
