if you guys think hoppa is moving anywhere for 300-400k...you are avin a laugh. The kid is on 850...it's horrendous overs but if we are getting anywhere near the kid it's 550-600k.

I doubt that's all cap money but yeah it comes down to his asking price after the top up by the Eels. Let's face it. We don't seem to have TPA's rolling in.

If Hoppa thinks he's gonna command anywhere near $850k on the open market he's "avin a laugh".

The Eels will have to pay more then half if they want him to leave, if we could jag him at the price we paid Farrel then we would be doing well.

What I meant was that are spend should be no more than 3-400k on the kid.

I am assuming that Parra would pay the difference, whatever that may be to offload him.

Parramatta have no contract for Hopoate registered with the NRL so depending the outcome of this court case they may have zero obligation to pay out any portion of his salary.

I'm no legal expert so I don't know how it will play out. He has a signed contract with Parramatta that he wants them to honour, but technically it's not an NRL contract.

Is it not an NRL contract because incompetent Parramatta didn't lodge it ?
I wouldn't mind Hoppa. Think he needs a change of club.
Re our re recruitment we desperately need a quick back or two. The way Nighty is playing I hope it's an injury not a permanent loss of pace. He has been found out heaps since his lay off.

He couldn't play in the NRL if his contract was not registered.

His third party payment agreement has probably not been honoured.

His form has been uninspiring however very few players play well when they are not being paid.

If he sues Parra and leaves to join another club, he has no hope of commanding a salary over and above $400k per annum.

Therefore he may be worth a punt at $300k

I would prefer us to go after Will Smith from Penrith . He can play a few positions and has a ton of speed . He seems to be getting better and better each game .

I agree. Much better value. Honestly, no disrespect to Hoppa, he's a very likeable guy, but I don't think he offers much.

Unless its someone exceptional, there is no point signing anymore middle of the road players. Look at all the rubbish we signed at the beginning of this year, most will be shown the door. I initially also thought Will Smith, but then we signed Kurt Mann. I understand we need to fill up a 25 man roster, but why parade them around like they are first grade signings?

We are better off given Glymin/Carr/Thompson or Dufty a go on the wing next year. They will be a lot cheaper, and we can save the money to go after a big scalp for the halves for 2017.

Glymin will get his chance as he is signed to the top grade squad and Thompson might find himself in the NSW Cup along with Dufty.

Don't be surprised to see Kayne Brennan with a second tier contract next year along with Tyrone Cranston if they fail to look outside the club.

I agree this year we signed a lot of players in the hope they would become first graders but Smith has been given a chance and is killing it in my opinion and Mann is going well even though he is playing out of position at centre . I also agree about our young players . I would like to see Isaac Thompson and Glymin as our wingers next year .
