Will Hunt get the Sims treatment from Broncos' fans?

It still took him 2-3 years to sort his shit out. I think Green was the best thing that happened to him, he must have laid it on the line to him about dropping the tough guy bullshit and concentrate on playing good footy. Which he did for us in late 2013 leading into 14. Unfortunately his traitorous little brother picked up wher Asthon left it off and became the pain in the ass 'tough guy'. But that is a completley different story that I could go on about for a bit but I won't.

Im not trumpeting Ashton because he played for us either, I felt sorry for him long before he ever signed for us or even turned his form around with us. He was the fall guy for that finals loss and paid for it dearly.

Why doesn't Hannant get bagged for his role in that loss though? At the 77min mark all he had to do was put the f$&@ing ball down over the line and Brisbane win, instead he gets held up by someone half his friggin size. I'd be more filthy on him than Ashon getting belted in a good shot from Folau and Manu and dropping the ball.

Mitchell Hunt is the Donkeys saviour he'll be praised until someone else comes along then he'll be considered never good enough.

In my mind, the game was lost as soon as Feldt scored in the corner. Everything that happened after that is meh. So I dont blame Hunt.

As for Sims, I think that most can agree that 2014 was the best season of his career. Stopped trying to be a tough guy, cut out the penalties.

Spot on .
Ashton through his career had problems .
Trying to be a tough guy .
Giving away penalties .
Letting his anger get the better of him .

But at the cows he finally matured .
He was a great leader when SOO rolled around .
Gave up the anger bullshit & played good hard footy .
Led from the front .
In fact he seemed to give away far less penalties than his talented but moronic brother .
I was very disappointed when he left for SL .
Whatever anger/stupidity Ashton lost seemed to gravitate straight to Tariq .

Also agree about the Broncderp fans .
Still arrogant
Still providing the lols .

This is whats funny. Top bold - why Broncos fans didn't like him, before the knock on.

And bottom bold. We disliked him for the same reason you did, but we are arrogant.

Mega-lols.

While this maybe true there is another side to that story. Circa 2011-12 when half our forward pack were phoning in their performance, Sims was one of the few in the side to look like he gave a damn. I always admired the fact that he would always put in no matter the circumstances.

Granted his efforts were not always wisely directed and it did take him until 2014 to mature completely. But multiple coaches saw leadership qualities in him and he has skippered his club and country, no small achievement.

Yes I am a staunch defender of A. Sims, and don't back away from that. I will never forget some of his press conferences as skipper when he would seem to take so personally poor efforts from his team. It really meant something to him, and made a refreshing change from the usual platitudes you get after a loss.

PS, Sims hit career best form with you guys.

In Brisbane it was pretty clear that he wasn't all that interested. 09 he was rough. Like someone said he could have redeemed himself but decided to plod around at Stockies every Saturday night.

I thought Sims ended that season quite strongly. As much credit as Taylor was receiving, it was Sims' work in the middle that made a big difference.

Are you sure you're not confusing it for 2010 where he struggled to even get selected?

Personally I don't hold a grudge against Ashton much in the same way I don't Hunt. He was ordinary for us in his time at the Broncos, but was great for the Cowboys. Much in the same way Blair was shit for the Tigers and has been great for us so far.

Much better troll thread than redvsotty's. But still blatantly obvious.

5/13.

Would read again, but would feel bad for doing so.

Sims matured enough to stamp on Lee Mossop's hand at a play the ball in August.

Blaming someone for a mistake(s) in a pressure cooker environment is a bit laughable, everyone brain farts at times. Wish I had Ben Hunt's talent then I could be playing in finals instead of being an opinionated armchair fan behind a keyboard.

Give the the guy some slack

They shouldn't and I can't see reasonable Broncos fans seeing it as anything other than what it was - one bad game. Unfortunately a huge % of fans are wankers so you'd have to concerned that he's gonna cop loads of shit regardless.

Some would argue that being a crucial player and getting you to the grand final and then costing it for you is far worse than just doing what you'd always done and plod along like Sims did until he made it to the Cowboys. What's the bigger let down? Which is he most out of character? You can't blame genius for being a genius but you sure as hell can blame a top shelf player for being a genius.

Dropping the ball off the kick off is a basic, no pressure mistake. Having the ball stripped off you when you're up by 4 in a grand final with a minute to go is unforgivable and spear tackling a bloke to gift the opposition field position and a shot to win it is just as bad.

P.S I would take big Ashton back at the Cows in a heartbeat.

Ashton's last season at the Cows was pretty darn good.

All the blame for the tactic of kicking into touch has been heaped upon Bennett, but it came down to Hunt to make these choices in general play.

In time he may grow from this experience. But I know this much, I want him nowhere near the Origin side.

Completely agree, he cost us the GF simple as that and deserves to be booed into oblivion.

Sims has an always has been a try hard grub, who was too much of a tosser to realise his 'potential'. Too busy posing.

What a coincidence he got very brave when the no punching rule came in.

Reminds me of Scott Hall. Only tough with backup. Sims = Razor Ramon.

It started 7.3 seconds after he dropped that ball. I've seen and made hundreds of them.

It does seem though it is only (the majority of) Bronco supporters that don't think Hunt cost them the Premiership this year.
While it was the opposite for Sims.
