He should be charged. And I'll be cheering on Souths for this GF. :(

He will only be suspended due to priors. SBW saved the tackle from being super nasty. If this was on Inglis, he gets a thousand weeks as no arm would be up to protect. The charge is for the action, not the outcome.

Just on side note, I swear Inglis must of been one of those kids that had scrapes on his face growing up. He seems to find some way to land on his face every time... Even when he score a try.

Luke Ricketson missed out on the 04 GF through suspension and he was generally a clean player. Luke's got no chance - especially in this era of getting tough on these types of tackles.

Am I the only one who thinks there should be a different standard for the Grand final?
This isnt a regular season game, why do we insist it gets treated like one

The charge should be the same but IMO, points wise, finals games should be a sliding scale and SOO/Internationals should be weighted higher than regular season games

If 100 points = 1 regular season game, you should have to accumulated at least 350 to miss a grandfinal, 300 for an international and 250 for SOO/ finals Ames
So in this case, if Luke's charge plus what ever carry over points warrants 350+ points then he should miss it, if not, let's say he gets 200 point charge, then he plays the GF and misses the first two season games next year

have you really thought about this. it would be open slather to spear tackle, eye gouge, chicken wing, crush, ankle rotate, etc etc etc in the finals. bugger the wrestling coaches you'd end up with specialist grubbing coaches who'd be telling the players what they could do and not miss a game.

i put eye gouging and spear tackles at the front there because neither should be in the game.

luke lifted him and then drove. it's really f**king dangerous. SBW managed to protect himself but that's more good luck than good management.

this shit has to disappear not just be a cause celebre or rule de jour because mckinnon had his neck broken, but because it is inherently dangerous and should not be tolerated, ever.

I think with Ennis missing the GF, he's guaranteed to be suspended, as no one would be able to claim Souths were hard done by, with Dogs missing their hooker as well.

Just had another good look at it . The On field penalty sufficient for this tackle and reporting OK for a further review , OK too. However the Review should not take further action in my opinion.

1) Luke's had his hands on either side of SBW legs.
2) one of SBW leg was on the ground for most of the time and only came up as the raised leg was coming down , i.e. the leg on the ground came up in balancing.
3) SBW was gentled down onto his back/side of shoulder

A lifting tackle by Pearce on a Souths player , ONE LEG was just as bad , as Luke's start of the tackle. Difference Luke had arms around both legs and was able to control SBW down gently.

none of those offenses should be charged lightly enough to come into this discussion. And most of them dont. Eye gouges for example, you get caught doing that, it's months on the sidelines, not weeks, no one in their right mind would eye gouge and expect to get a charge that would allow them to play the following week, that's just ridiculous .

And i've already stated my case that lifting tackles and wrestling moves should be a minimum of 300 point offenses, as that is the only way to remove them from our game. The system needs an over haul, it's not working in it's present state. Luke has been given a grade 1... as i predicted, he was undercharged... and why? Because the MRC want to give him a chance to appeal, which they'll likely uphold, and he'll probably be free to play.

They current system isnt working. It's a laughing stock every time finals footy and rep games roll around. Grade 1 lifting? Give me a break. If it wasnt so predictable, it'd be funny

Why is everyone saying he should get off because it is a GF ?...a GF is just another game.

Luke has a poor record at the Judiciary and should pay the penalty.

On a serious note, if he gets off then the NRL are basically saying we don't care about lifting tackles.

This is almost a referendum on the dangerous lifting tackle. How serious do they take it? Because that's been a grade 1 all year.

So he's been charged. So what? We all knew he would be with the Gyngell owned channel 9 running the media.

He'll get off. There have been far worse tackles all year that either haven't been charged or suspended. The judiciary aren't the MRC.

No problem. Ennis will play too. The way it should be. I don't want the dogs having any excuses for the flogging that is coming.
