First up: sorry to those that saw a new post in this thread and got excited. Happened to me many times too, so I know how it feels.

My post here is just to presume there will not be a new game in 2022 afterall. There was talk back before the season that this would be the year, but alas, the season has come and almost gone and not a peep or hint or anything suggesting there will be a game released this year.

That's such a shame, what with the NRLW now in its 5th season and a RLWC too.

Maybe 2023 will be our year...

Eh.

I always feel the longer it takes the better the game will be. And that's usually not true.

I'll pay my $99 regardless of the quality. Itching to play franchise mode and release Nathan Cleary to bring back Matt Moylan.

I still play the old game so that I can actually select some NZers in the Warriors.

Lets hope its 2022 starting squads. You can immediately release Matt Lodge and bring back Agnatius Paasi from the Super League.

I think the old game starts in 2014/15 so no Lodge anyway and Paasi is still around. Then I just try to buy up players who should be Warriors like Jesse Bromwich.

Okay, it's not much of an update per se, but there is a little update, mentioning 'unforseen' reasons for a delay in the making of this game, and there is a mention of some kind of, I presume, mobile phone game ... so it is something I suppose.

I'm pretty keen for a Rugby League Live 5 as well to be honest, I do enjoy RLL4 and still play it but upon the games release in 2017 it was pretty lacking on features and that's even more evident in 2023, I'd rather wait a couple more years and have them get it right instead of a half cooked game like we got with 4.

How ridiculous was it that you could select an Origin side from all available players but that feature didn't exist for international games despite the game heavily featuring a World Cup mode? What about the fact that there wasn't a proper stats menu for each player displaying things such as NRL appearances, achievements, Origin games played, Internationals played etc?

I enjoy the gameplay for RLL4 so if they did a RLL5 with a number of improvements such as proper stats menus, the ability to pick international teams etc I'd be down. I know that's' not possible though with Big Ant no longer having the NRL licence...

Not being able to pick the players I want for a Kiwi team pisses me off no end and how hard was it to just replicate the SOO selection for internationals? Agree on the lack of players stats menu.

On gameplay I hope a new game actually includes a proper hit up function that weakens defence (like one of the previous games did) so that selecting props is actually relevant.

Also, they need to untie energy from harder levels. They hardest levels are dumb to play because you make a couple of runs or tackles and a player's energy drops to the point they're almost worthless. Plus, energy levels should increase a bit at half time.

Maybe it's all in my head but I think on RLL4 if you direct traffic all at one player they do eventually get worn out (Stamina wise) which I guess could eventually lead to an injury or lack of sprint in attack.

You do really need to direct all attack at that one player to notice a difference though...
