will we make the 8?

I believe that Smith has lost the faith of his players now. We will be lucky to scrape in now. Hadley said today that he is tipping that if we get beaten by the roosters Smith will be gone as of next Monday. Bolts, like him or not, is rarely wide of the mark. His tips are usually strong mail. He has been around long enough not to make longshot and uninformed comments. You only have to see how he towels up politicians week in week out. He is a very smart man with an incredible memory and knack for getting his facts 100% correct.

And so that should happen..

I said when the announcement was made that if we lost the next 2 piss Smith on and bring in some Newcastle greats to pump the team up again and let Rick Stone do the rest.

If Mullen and Kidley both play all of the remaining games I'm confident we'll finish 4th-6th

Man I think we'll make it no dramas. So if we win 2 games we can still make it right? Its hard to say with out team because we're hot then we're cold, doesn't really matter who we playing because when we're on we'll beat the best but when we off we'll go down to the worst team ever... All we can do is hope I guess but I think we'll make it.

Hadley is a fool.

He shoots his mouth off all the time and is wrong more often than not.

I am not saying he is wrong about this situation, but to throw weight behind a statement because Hadley said is like saying you know something for certain because 'you saw it on the net'.

I completely agree that if the Roosters beat us on Saturday Smith should be gone.....

We quite simply will not make the 8 if this occurs.

And if we dont make atleast 5th or above then Smiths 3 years have amounted to nothing IMO, he did well getting rid of the deadwood however we will not IMO have been deemed to have been competitive.

3 years is a long bloody time in football.

I believe we will make it, hopefully around 6th our injury toll has made things harder i dont believe in getting rid of smith if we dont beat the roosters i dont see how he can be the scapegoat for the players poor performance. I agree it was probably a distraction at first and was a little puzzled why we only had 1 prop on the bench and corey,s lack of game time but i have faith the boys will rip in.I cant wait till we get back some of our injured players back and play the way i know we can cos when we are ON we can beat anyone

I did think we would finish either 4th or 5th two weeks ago. Now, id say we would be lucky to make the eight after last weeks performance. Given that, the form we have shown for most of the season, if it were to return should see us make it. I honestly dont know.

If we get beaten by the Roosters, then its time for Smith to go. It concerned me how much publicity he was given last week, but more the point how he openly whored himself to the media talking about the Roosters, Gus Gould and Big Willy. A truly focused coach would not be doing that, in my opinion.

The Friday night debacle got me to thinking, however, about our season and my theory goes something like this.

I actually wonder if our season so far tell us that we are an average side that has played consistently. In that we have won some games well and others we have lost. In contrast teams like Melbourne and more particularly, Manly have been in average form but are gradually improving and are now hitting their straps.

In short I think we have an average side that plays consistently, sometimes good sometimes bad....

It doesn't really matter at this stage whether we end up 5th or 6th or 8th...if we put in any more performances like Friday night we will get absolutely pumped and will just be embarrassing ourselves.

The lesson learned from Friday night - however many needles Kurt needs to get him on the field, give them to him! We probably would have lost still, but it wouldn't have been as pathetic as it was...

I tend to agree. I think we have been punching above our weight for most of the season.

i see a side that plays an attractive ,entertaining style of footy with much improved defence has been without two starting front rowers for most of the season and all the other injurys i guess you could say we have been punching above our weight. We have put in a couple of ordinary games but overall ive liked what ive seen. If we could have kurt, houston, mullen all fit over next few games and maybee cross or tolar in time for finals i think we could cause a few teams some trouble.
