I miss the circus element that Denis could bring. Hoppa could have filled the gap.

Combined package of approx. $800k per season. Gee that is massived overs, I don't care what the salary cap goes up to. Let's hope a heap of that is 3rd party deals.

500K for aplayer of his ability won't be considered overs in a few years, if that is even what the contract value is.

I sort of agree Boxhead, especially if he was playing next year. But factor in a 2 year wait, and the fact that his brother is an unknown quantity, means that if we are paying anywhere near $800k it is massive overs.

I would rate players like Thurston, Smith, Slater, Marshall, SBW, Gallen as those who are deserving of that sort of money.

Put it this way, are Manly paying Foran anywhere near $500k a season?

I don't know Boxy. We're all wishfully thinking that the Salary Cap will rise by a huge amount in 2013... but by how much we don't really know. It wouldn't surprise me if it only increases by 400k or so. These TV networks know how to screw the NRL over.

Why wouldn't he have a clause in his contract that if the cap increases then his salary increases by the same percentage?

I can't imagine a contract not having this.

The fans get told when it suits the club. As it should be.

Personally I'm happy the club has learnt to be more professional. As a fan it's frustrating to not know what's going on, but I know it's best for the club so I cop it.

I agree to a point. Just seems to be getting to a point where the club is kinda isolating fans to the point they don't feel part of the club and that may affect memberships next year.

How are they isolating the fans from rumours?

When the deal is pen to paper, then the club will announce it.

We dont want another Luke Lewis Souths affair where he agreed to go to Souths but changed his mind.

Can you imagine if the club sent out a release saying he has 'agreed' to come to the Eels and then midway through 2013, he decideds nah.

Supporters will be up in arms about it and then the club will have to answer to all the angry members who will come out and say 'but the club announced he agreed'.

Like Sandow, the minute he signed that contract, the club released it.

Only release info if they have signed.

Do you feel that by the club not leaking any info for the past few months that fans feel isolated?

You can never please idiots.

It seems people would rather here us linked to Thurston, Cronk, Blair and co rather then BANG - William Hopoate!!!! Eels Bound. WOW

I think we are getting over the links to our club cause I'm sick and tired of hearing the same rubbish published

I can think of reasons why a clause like this wouldn't be included, but at the end of the day I didn't write the contract so it doesn't mean jack

I wasn't so much referring to that more the lack of member emails etc this year. I know what you're saying and agree to a point in regards to Tonga Sandow etc, but we all knew about a bunch of re-signings in March yet they weren't announced till round 19 or so. Round 13 is the cutoff for reneging on contracts and contracts re-signed as opposed to signings from other clubs are accepted and registered immediately by the NRL. Loko re-signed at the start of the season for example but it wasn't announced for 4 months for example.
