Cien y Pico Doble Pasta. Spanish garnacha...Doble pasta is a winemaking method that basically involves fermenting the new must on the remaining lees of a previous vintage(s). It makes for an interesting wine. I have never had a wine that smells so expressively of black olives (in a good way). It's fking delicious too, everyone is loving it in front of the footy!

Looking forward to absolutely murdering some reds tonight.

Me & mrs Johns going over to our best mates house (the girls known each other for 25+ years) for a quiet drink.

Always plenty of laughs, and a few tears now and then. There is nothing more important in life than good company (family included) good wine (all drinks included) and a good laugh.

Cannot wait, although I feel i'll see it a bit differently tomorrow morning.

It's pretty f**king delicious...can see why it has so much bling. It's rich and smooth but not too heavy, and the mataro really comes through. I think I'm a fan

Drinking with brother in law and brother tonight. Did a bottle of Grant Burge Balthasar shiraz-viognier already, excellent stuff. 2007 it was...now we're on to a local cabernet, also a 2007. Wallaroo cab sav, I think I paid $18 for it a couple of years ago at cellar door...they could slap $50 on it and it would be well worth it, I promise.

Small cellar doors are notoriously hit and miss. You seem to have gotten a great hit, yet some out there seem to think they are the same quality of something like Petaluma Shiraz, yet are more in the Jacobs Creek market.

Wallaroo are great. On tasting their 2009 shiraz sits in a bracket of heavy, oaky shiraz that are up there at $40 odd bucks and have huge cellaring potential....but it's $20

Having a Reschke Vitulus Cab Sauv. If Coonawarra was the women I like, this would be the woman I'd have angry monkey sex with. Nearly black in colour, it has such great depth and structure for a $25 wine (not including my secret squirrel "I get everything at cost price" deal) that it is very hard to think of a better wine in its category.

P.S. Coonawarra Cab Sauv's are my personal favourite, so I may be a touch biased.

Give the Reschke Bos a try, most places seem to have 2004 or 2005 in stock, it's awesome...

Grange day tomorrow...I've opened a pool as to when I will sell out. I only got 6 bottles so my money is 10.15 am

Bos '04 is the current vintage (or so the guy at the DWS show tells me). '05 is "coming soon". Could be bullshiting my drunken arse though.

And on Grange, I hate you. Only got one bottle of the '06 into my store. Still got it.

And I want a bottle of the current Reschke Empyrium. It is going to be an absolute belter of a wine, though will take a minimum of 10-15 years to reach its earliest drinking age.
