Knappstein Shillings Red. Not bad for a cheapie, a blend of Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Decent table wine.

Me and the Mrs had a bottle of Peach wine we bought at Niagara falls last weekend. Sounds weird, but it was bloody good.

Couple to report, from over the weekend....

2008 Howard Park Scotsdale Cabernet; very much a Great Southern Cabernet, elegant and long, loads of lighter fruits, fine tannins. Very nice, should have bought more

2008 Frogmore Creek Pinot Noir; just gold. The blackest of cherries and forest fruits, brilliantly oaked, bit of spice...a wow wine.

2010 Heartland Directors Cut Shiraz; tasted it at work, absolute stunner, Inky black, loads of licorice and clove, black plum, red fruits, cinnamon, cedar oak...

Was a decent weekend Penfolds release tasting and masterclass tomorrow!

So, Penfolds release....No whites (Bin 311 only bottled last week, miniscule quantities of Bin 51)...

Bin 8 2011 is ok, Bin 138 2011 is nice and quite savoury and interesting, same with Bin 128 2011 (they also made bugger all of that). Bin 28 2010 was disappointing, it's a good wine for sure but doesn't hit the 2008 mark for me.

Bin 407 and 389 2010 are absolute classics, brilliant wines

Sisters Run 2009 Cabernet, something about it, very different.

The 2010 of that is very good....winemaker is an awesome chick named Elena Brooks, who is also the winemaker for Zonte's Footstep, Dandelion, Heirloom Vineyards, and I'm sure there's one I've forgotten. The shiraz is also very good.

You should try the Dandelion wines...Lionheart Shiraz is a favourite of mine, and the Lions Tooth Shiraz/Riesling is interesting but excellent

Bay of Fires 2011 Pinot....best wine of show at Royal Sydney, I can certainly see why. Cracker
