I have tried, so so hard to get into whites over the last 3 years. I just cannot get into it, i'll ust have to be patient & wonder if the palate will evolve/change. Still can't go past bold Barossa shiraz, ahhh love it.

If you need something with good depth, try a Marsanne Rousanne Vognier blend. Torbreck does a very good one, with SA doing it best.

Been drinking Sir James Tumbarumba Pinot Chardy all day. Brilliant bubbles, compares to the Arras very well IMO.

Pinot shortly, lemme pick one and Imma get back to you!

Must disagree old mate...cooler climates do it better for me. I hate Canberra as a city but there are some crackers from around here. Ravensworth does it amazingly. Orange does all three grapes brilliantly, Belgravia's straight Rousanne is one of the best I've had. And Victoria, obviously being the home of Tahbilk, does some belters.

That said, for straight Viognier I love the Adelaide Hills. Yalumba's Eden Valley Viogner is really good. And yeah the Torbreck blend is a cracker. So is the John Duval Plexus white

Massena Barbera 2012. God damn this is juicy! It's like chewing on a ripe black cherry. Wish I'd drank this earlier so I could pick up a few more bottles from Plonk.

I'll have to grab some when I go out there next. Love Massena wines, but I always get distracted by the beers when I go to Plonk

Speaking of Barbera, 2009 Poderi Colla Barbera. f**king nice. Everything good about Italian wine in one bottle...big and meaty, elegant and refined, a little rustic too, really delicious stuff.

Chateau Constance Corbieres Vieilles Vignes 2011.

From the Languedoc-Rousillon region and within the Corbieres AOC. A blend of Grenache and Carignan, this is a heavily perfumed wine. If I had to guess, it would be somewhere around 60-40% blend, the Grenache is there but without that bright red fruit burst on the palate I was expecting (and the rear label talks about), though there is a good dark cherry hit. An almost smoked taste with a good whack of dark chocolate and a slight white pepper finish.

2010 Punters Corner Sovereign Cabernet...work is flogging it off for half price so I had to try it. Not sure I've had a Coonawarra cabernet this rich and opulent that wasn't a John Riddoch or an Empyrean. Lacks the finesse of those real top wines but my god for $32 I reckon it's incredible.

Pfft, they tried that! Plus for once they've actually done something good...this is good juice. Pity the label is shit

It's not ours as far as I know...I think we must have picked up a hell of a lot of it but doing some research the winery is independent and has been around since 1988. So maybe we picked up an export deal that fell through or something.

As for the rest of it, it's over in that they didn't sack me. It's not over in that I'm considering my options legally (given the anxiety shit and other stuff) and am searching for a new job...but at least I have a job

That is really good to hear Bazal.

Moppity Vineyards Riesling 2012. Very light in style, probably to be expected from Hilltops. Very fresh, kinda disappointed that I've only got the one bottle, as it seems to be a Riesling that will develop fantasticly into the future.

Moppity wines are awesome!

2009 Bannockburn Chardonnay. Felt like a really good white, and this is a really, really good white. Tastes like a high end Meursault, rich and stupidly long but lean and minerally as well. Balance is awesome. Happy I have a six pack of them.

The pleasures of living in Riverwood:

Chateau Ksara Cuvee de Printemps 2010. For those not in the know, Chateau Ksara is the largest wine producer in Lebanon. This is an interesting whore of a wine, a Gamay based wine blended with Tempranillo. I doubt you could blend two completely different wines wines together and send it to market with much success. But this kinda works, kind of like a reverse Cabernet Merlot, with the Gamay providing a tonne of finesse and Tempranillo some good body to finish on.

A very pleasant table red.

By golly its a phenomennal red!
