Cockfighter's Ghost 2006 Shiraz for me tonight. Really enjoying it quite a bit!

Got a bottle of this today but the 2010

It's very handy...their own Gulf Station is better IMO

Got one of these 2009 pinot noir's also, having it now.. Very, very nice. (We usually just drink penfolds rawson retreat merlot when we get red so I'm easily impressed) :)

Have decided to branch out a bit with reds and take some of you merkins recommendations..

Also got a Pepper Tree Merlot 2010. Hopefully somewhere near as good as this gulf station is.

Grande Reserve Naoussa Boutari 2007. Greek wine made from Xinomavro grapes. Very interesting taste, almost like a Grenache but with the tannic structure of Cabernet Franc. Very food friendly, full of ripe red fruit with a good lick of leather on the finish.

Man where the shit do you get all this weird stuff? I'd love to be able to find interesting wines like that...

Finished a previously opened bottle of Rapaura Springs reserve pinot noir, Central Otago...great pinot for $25. Rich fruit, earthy, sappy whole bunch character, spicy oak. Ripper value

Mate my territory takes me around to all sorts of places. Picked that up in Marrickville, the shop specialises in drinks for the Greek community (while being run by Sri Lankans).

Norman's Chais Claredon Cab Sauv 1998. Drinks like velvet, and still a heap of vibrant flavour. Black cherry, vanilla, liquorice, eucalyptus, and a slight confection edge.

Delicious. And I have one more bottle of this too, wonderful!

Not as esteemed a wine as SGL, but anyway....

2012 Wynns shiraz. Typically excellent, possibly as good as the 2010 (I'll have to try them side by side to see). Black fruit, slightly jammy but medium bodied, graphite edge, warm spices. Impressive stuff, just in too small a bottle!

2009 Giaconda McClay Rd shiraz. Declassified fruit from the top couple of shiraz they make. Ripper for the $30 odd I paid per bottle for the 6. Big and fragrant Rhone-esque nose, loads of fruit, inky intensity. Great stuff

Alpha Box and Dice Blood of Jupiter. 85% sangiovese, 15% cabernet. Huge 15.4% alcohol but it carries it well. Cherries, black fruits, excellent depth, that slightly tangy sangiovese edge. Bit like a super Tuscan, without the same savoury complexity on the back (but also without the $100+ price tag).

Having a bottle of Cotes du Rhone I picked up from Aldi for $10, and I tell you what its not bloody bad at all. Very drinkable, would definitely pick it up again.

Might drop in and get the Cotes du Rhone SGL.

Finished a bottle of Partisan Olivers Road Grenache last night. A gorgeous McClaren Vale wine.

Having one of my ex-employers new white wines. Semillon based blend, definitely got some Chardonnay and Verdelho in there. Not as bad as I thought though for a CDW.
