Quite common in higher end wines, Twizz. Indicates time spent in oak

2009 Little Wine Co Little Gem Shiraz. Good shit. Medium bodied, red fruits, typical Hunter savoury edges and fine tannins with a licorice finish.

Had a '09 Gomersall Mataro for lunch. Beautiful. Rich, gritty and pepper. Long too.

Theb a '07 Mitolo Savitar Shiraz. Wonderful vanilla, chery, rhaspberry etc. Looooong finish too. Beaut colour. That was finished by us too quick.

Then cracked a '13 Fox Gordon Hannah's Swing. Good wine, but hard to follow the previous two.

Simply purchase any 6 of the following legendary reds for $170, and you'll receive a bonus bottle of Saltram No.1 Shiraz – valued at $73.99^!

Select from:

Wolf Blass Grey Label Shiraz#
Wolf Blass Grey Label Cabernet Shiraz#
Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon#
Wynns Black Label Shiraz#
Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mourvèdre#

The Shiraz Mouvedre tastes like cigarettes, not a fan

Wynns Black Label Shiraz is currently on the table and gets a thumbs up.

I'm in Rocky for 2 weeks with work, being on call I don't even get the chance to enjoy a drop in a shithole boring town. Hating life ATM.

I agree Twiz, i find it difficult to keep a nice bottle to age, especially when you know it's a cracker.

I wish! Tangled Vine.....

Nah, there is method to my madness. Originally I was going to make mulled wine and we have a bunch of Winesmiths Tempranillo going out of date. Then I discovered it was better than very many bottled cheap Tempranillo's on the market so now I'm just drinking it guiltily

Tomfoolery "Skullduggery" Mataro Shiraz. A very silky yet serious drink, a mix of sweet red fruits and savoury leather + red meat tastes on the palate. If I am patient enough, I should try this in a few hours when it opens up more. Although the chance of that is probably slim...

2013 Turkey Flat Butchers Block SGM. One of my favourites every year, drinks well above it's price. Black fruit, chocolate and vanilla oak, and I really get the mataro personally. Shit hot.
