Majella Coonawarra Cab Sauv 2009. Liquid blackcurrant jam, very little tannin but that which is left still has good grip. Finishes off with a rather big hit of mint. A very strange wine.

Got back a couple days ago, jeez we had the car packed. Had to get a few cases sent home.

Ended up getting the below in multiple bottles. The wine fridge is well and truly stacked for a while, kinda makes me happy.

Yarra valley
De Bortoli Old Boys 21 Port, Single Vineyard Section A8 Syrah, Single Vineyard Section A5 Chardonnay,

Coldstream Hills
Coldstream Hills Reserve Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, The Esplenade Pinot Noir, Deer Farm vineyard Chardonnay

Rutherglen
Campbells
The Empire (port), Grand Rutherglen Muscat, The Brothers Shiraz, Bobbie Burns Shiraz, Reserve Shiraz, Sparkling Shiraz,

Rutherglen Estates - wasn't that impressed with their reds.
Classic Muscat, Single vineyard Pinot Grigio, Moscato (for our daughters)

Orange
Philip Shaw The Gardener pinot gris, The Idiot Shiraz, Philip Shaw No.11 Chardonnay, Philip Shaw No.89 Shiraz,

Bellarine Peninsular
Scotchmans Hill
Cornelius Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, Cornelius Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Cornelius Single Vineyard Syrah.

Makes me thirsty mmmmmmmm

Gossips pales in comparison to Sunstone Fruity White!

Another quality McWilliams product. Spectacular wine. JH rates it highly.

There's some good studf there, to be sure, but the region probably suits your pallette as well.

Chaffey Bros "Battle of Barrosa La Conquista" Tempranillo Garnacha. Yes, Barossa is misspelled, on purpose though.

For a Tempranillo Garnacha blend, it really tastes more like the Grenache part of the blend. Very vibrant red fruits, with a bare lick of eucalypt. A good quaffer.

2013 Kilikanoon Morts Block Riesling, to celebrate the last warm day until after winter (most likely). Actually a bit of a let down, normally it's a cracking wine but this is quite flat. Good acid, nice balance and all that...just not very much flavour. Could be shut down already, but that would surprise me

Been home for about 3 days now, wow!!

Some great wines, all up about 50+ bottles purchased, some absolute crackers. Personal favourite was Cornelius - Scotchmans Hill & Muscat from Campbells Rutherglen, brilliant trip.

Fortified wine night for SGL

Stanton & Killeen 12 YO Rutherglen Topaque. In my opinion, while Rutherglen is best known for its Muscat, it is its Tokay/Topaque which sets it apart from any other region producing fortified wines (excluding Sherry). An very good example of the wine, truly versatile. I can see this matching everything from sharp + creamy cheeses, fruit based meat dishes, and like tonight a very good cigar (Padron Family Reserve No.45 Maduro).

Lillypilly Fiumara 7. There are 4 things the Riverina does well: rice, the Mafia, SGL's family, and fortified wines. This is a fortified red, Tawny style, and it is a serious Port. Not dry style but still retaining plenty of the base stock flavour (Shiraz, Cab Sauv, Muscat of Alexandria), but not a sweet style yet still with great caramel and golden syrup flavours. This port includes stock from as far back as 1982. Honestly, I am struggling to find the words to describe this, as there is just so much awesome going on. Kinda wishing I still had my cigar. Just do yourself a favour and get a bottle.

2010 Hollick Stock Route Shiraz Cab. Really nice, dangerously easy to drink. Juicy, spicy, good stuff

You know you're in trouble that when the best wine shop in Tamworth is BWS...

Peppertree 2013 Wrattonbully / Coonawarra Cab Sauv. Much, much sweeter than I remember from 3-4 years ago when I used to sell boxes of it per month. Very much a cassis + mint based wine now, with very fine tannins. Pure quaffer, inoffesive but not going to challenge anybody.

Stentifords Old Vine Shitaz, '02.

Gorgeous. blueberry, rhasberry, vanilla from the oak, smooth and very long. Was my last bottle of that one. I sighed a little when it finished.

Picked up six bottles of Gossips for $20 at Dan's on Friday.

Think I'll mix it to infuriate the purists >_>
