Id only like him as a hooker too. He has a very poor kicking game and last tackle options. If we do get him as a hooker, Matt Keating and Kingston must be released. I honestly would rather Matt Keating.

Tahu would be at the top of my wish list. Followed by Thurston. I read somewhere that Thurston was looking for a move back to Sydney. Dose anyone else remember that?

Talking of centers, the Pommie Martin Gleeson was looking to play in the NRL.

Are you being serious or sarcastic? Because that was the excerpt from when we signed Poore...

"He'll certainly add some versatility and variety ...'' Eels coach Daniel Anderson said. "What's more, we feel we've got a quality person, not just a quality player.''

didnt he say this about Shackleton

Thurston is not worth discussing. It's a pipe dream. He's contracted to the Cowboys until 2011 so why even mention him? They're not going to release him early. Tahu... class player. But why pay top dollar for a centre/winger when it's the one position we've actually got covered.

oh yeah Poore it was, Eele was right.

Actually, so are you, mate - I believe the parts about "being a great person" and the "versatility" are relating to Shackleton.

The bits about Melbourne, if I recall correctly, are about Poore.

One of the articles says that Hindy and poore got to b good mates on the Rwanda trip I'd say that had a big part to play

That, and Haye talking the club up.

Plus the part that hasn't been mentioned yet (to my knowledge) - Daniel Anderson. Obviously he would have sat down with both Shack and Poore and told them exactly what his plans were and they thought it was too good to knock back.

The money helped, too, obviously.

I know its a pipe dream, thats why I had him in a wish list. As for having center/wingers covered, we have wingers covered. Inu has not proved at center, B.Smith and Tautai havent proved anything either. Reddy has, but I would really hate to think that Joel Reddy is going to be a long term 3 or 4 for us.

So from someone elses perspective, we dont have center covered. In saying that, we have NO halfbacks.

I KNOW we all want Thurston or something similar, but Wing is a current NSW rep who is playing good footy.

If we managed to secure his services I think it'd rate as HUUUGE on the back on the Shack and Poore signings.
Picking up 2 NSW Origin players and a city Origin backrower would be about the best recruitment week I can EVER remember us having!

Question re: Wing - would we be obtaining his services immediately? Like a straight transfer effective immediately? (if it's happening that is...)

I'd be happy to see Wing at Parra, his experience should help our young brigade and he is versatile

wonder what Anthony Mitchell makes of all this ?

i think it's tripe, mitchell deserves a go. how much long does he need to tear up nyc/flegg for?

wing would be a massive waste, he's not a 7 and we have an abundance of 6s and 9s

Thurston is an awesome player but will come at 500k price tage. If we want a freak we should keep Albert at a fraction of that price.

Wing has a smell about him like Finch. Overpaid, overrated and gets punted from his last two clubs before he finishes a contract. Surely there is a message there ?

As much as I'd like to see Wing at the club in terms of his utility value I think the other option of Masada Iosefa would be a much better and longer term buy in terms of value.

Wing Not Given Permission to Negotiate with Other NRL Clubs
11 Jun 2009

The South Sydney Rabbitohs would like to clarify reports regarding Craig Wing that have appeared in today’s press.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have not given Craig Wing or his management permission to negotiate with any other NRL Clubs.

Wing is contracted to the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the next two seasons, and the Club wants Craig to honour that contract.

Hmm for some reason i don't buy into the above. I like Iosefa but Wing is a Origin player and could be a really handy buy.

Why are we looking for a hooker anyway when you have Kingston killing it from the bench and Keating on a longterm deal.

Id rather focus on a decent experienced half who you could build around.
