With or without Rogers, Titans won't alter stance on Turner

Its a case of double standards.

Matt Rogers asks the ARU for a release because he has changed his mind and wants to move away from Sydney for personal reasons. A release was granted.

Steve Turner asks the Tit'arse'ans for a release because he has changed his mind and wants to move away from the Gold Coast for personal reasons. A release was refused.

What if Rogers changes his mind after an oral agreement but a signed contract had not been lodged with the NRL within 10 days, would the Titans release him?

"Seems hypocrisy is not confined to just politics!"

Turder does not have personal reasons. he got cold feet.

also, the Titans never offered Rogers a contract for 07 and still haven't. Melbourne did offer Turder one knowing he was already going.

it has already been said about 10 times in various threads

Mat Rogers:
1. not signed anything for '07 with anyone
2. asked for a release from the ARU contract
3. The ARU accepted his reasons for wanting to leave and wished him well
4. Behaving like a professional

Stever Turdhead:
1. signed with the Titans (showing intent is the same thing legally)
2. went behind their backs and signed with the Storm
3. The Titans will not accept his reasons for walking out
4. Behaving like a child

Steve Turner
1. did not lodge a contract with the NRL, therefore signed with Storm
2. A request for release was deemed not necessary,However the Titans being unreasonable have refused to release Turner on the false belief that NRL procedures were followed.
3.The titans attitude leaves no other option except for legal challenge of NRL rules.
4. The Titans demonstrating double standards

Rogers
1. Signed with ARU, changed his mind after meeting and entertained by the Titans behind the veil of functions.
2. The ARU were reasonable and released him from his contract

Good post...one step closer to 20,000.

Time to reflect - 20,000 posts and not one of them meaningful in any way, shape or form.

Good job...turnip.

There's your 15 seconds of messageboard fame, you can piss off now.

Cloud9, are you on drugs?

Steve Turner agreed to terms with the Titans. That is a contract. He was sent a paper contract the day after meeting with the Titans.
He has quotes all over the media and his manager notified the NRL that an agreement had been made.

By who?

The Titans refused to release Turner because they had an agreement and decided they were sticking to it.

Bring it on.
I suspect Turner is glad you're not representing him.

Was this going to part of your legal argument?

There's no double stanadrds. Anyone who thinks the two cases (Rogers and Turner) are the same, is deluding themselves.

Clubs look at each contract (and request for release) on its own merits.

Its not hard to find another exmaple of this, ie where a club refuses to release a player but will then let another player go. It is because circumstances are different. In the case of Rogers and Turner, the cases are completely different.

lol @ conspiracy theories.
Nothing illegal was done. No contracts were breached.
Rogers was legimately signed by the Titans for 2008.
His desire to seek a release from union for 2007 came afterwards.
The release was granted and this falls within the terms of most contracts.
He can now sign with any club he likes for season 2007.
All done without fuss and in a professional (and legal) manner.

Sure, that's between Rogers and the ARU/NSWRU. They're allowed to grant a release if they want.
Fortunately, for all concerned, no Storm officials got involved in the negotiation process.

Would have been better if used against someone who thought Steve Turner was doing the right thing though.

Your comedic style leaves much to be desired, but this did make me chortle.

Yep, Mat Rogers signed with ARU, played 5 years and 45 tests for them and then, in a well planned and disgustingly treacherous backflip, signed with the Titans for a paycut. This will go down as the longest of the long cons.
