Blair is the weakest front rower of the bunch yet will be first chosen. Was Matulino available

Pack still looks good, backline the concern as well as halves. Interesting to see if Leuluai or Levi will be the 9

Not too bad a side really. Taumololo is a big loss, and I can't work out picking Leuluai and Hiku over Benji and Luke but the biggest issue remains the coach.

Well at least NAS, Johnson, Taupau and Rapanas still there.

A lot more concerned about our go forward. No Gavet adds to concerns. Fonua-Blakes got good go forward I guess.

Fusitua going to Tonga hurts as well.

Laos and the Cooks aren't in the cup so they've got nowhere else to go. ;)

Levi and Nikorima in hooker rotation at a guess.
TL will be used because of experience and defence, but Martin should be there for Xfactor in attack.
RTS clearly fullback.
Rest sorts itself out.
No JT2 is disappointing, but will be interesting to see how he goes for Tonga.

Blair is shit and old, yet first picked and captain

Mannering excellent and old, and apparently under the microscope despite literally being better at everything than Blair

Marshall has shown he's good and old, but it's time to look to the future... f**ktards, absolute f**ktards

Hopefully what comes out of it all with the JT2 issue is that the coach of the Kiwis does not have to be a New Zealander! Best available that wants the job should do it and have an assistant that brings in the culture part of it.

Mau, SST and Fus pulled out minutes before the announcement.

Seriously none of these immature clowns should be anywhere near a black jersey ever again.

No surprises that 2 of them are ex or current warriors. This is that attitude that has been rife throughout the club. Blair (as he's shown in his interview today) won't put up with that shit

f**k yeah Adam Blair. If you are too chicken shit to tell Kidwell in person and in a reasonable time frame you don't have the mana to wear the kiwis jersey now or in the future....

New Zealand captain Adam Blair hasn't held back when asked for his thoughts on Jason Taumalolo turning his back on the Kiwi team to play for his native Tonga at the World Cup later this year.

Taumalolo's decision to make the switch took many people by surprise with Blair particularly unhappy with the Cowboys forward's lack of transparency.

Just before the New Zealand side was to be announced, Taumalolo dropped his bombshell without giving Kiwi players or coaches a heads up and it's safe to say Blair isn't too happy with how it went down.

"You've got to be a man and own up to what you want to do," he told NewstalkZB .

"If you were man enough, you'd make the phone call and tell them.

"He could have told them a couple of weeks ago because I don't think it was a last-minute decision.

"Obviously this was something he was thinking about doing."

Blair's scathing assessment didn't stop there with the captain clearly not keen to see Taumalolo or David Fusitu'a, who made a similar defection, play for New Zealand in the future.

"At this stage, it feels like we've been let down a lot," he said.

"So do we let them back in the team?

"You're going to have to find some way to be able to trust them again but that does cause issues and problems that we don't need."

The decisions weren't wrong, it's their choice, but the way they went about it was terrible and there should be consequences.

We still need another go forward prop, but Blair already showing why he was worth recruiting. The guy is a genuine leader.

Curious, do you guys see NZ being incredibly fired up and with a point to prove not only against Tonga, but to NZ media as well?

Everyone’s written them off etc etc.

I think it will galvanise the squad. The guys who originally missed out will be desperate to impress.

However the question remains over quality. We're not just replacing those who defected but also without Bromwich, Harris, Proctor, Luke, Foran, and while the latter two might not have deserved it on form we're putting a lot onto young shoulders behind what's close to a second string pack.

Blair reminds me of the guy with the knife on this scene in Arnolds Commando. Taumalolo is Bennett, the guy with the moustache.
Anyway Taumalolo eats Adam Blairs for breakfast. I know everyones getting excited when Blair talks dirty but I'll give Blair his dues when he makes Taumalolo pay (which I doubt). I wouldnt be surprised if Blair runs sideways or pulls the handbrakes against the Tongans after what he's said which I think is fair.

Blair hasn't turned his back and then become a gutless mute over the true reasons of it. He's then stood up for what the jersey means to him.

He's well ahead of Taumalolo to me at the moment.
