So...hair rock = simple music = simple fans (just lots of them)?

Glad I'm a You Am I fan then!

Simple music? so what you're saying is that Tim Rogers is a better vocialist then David Coverdale or Axl Rose?

Or that Tim Rogers is a better guitarist then Eddie Van Halen or Yngwie Malmstein?

Or that Tim Rogers has influenced more guitarists an bands then the likes of Crue, Dokken, Whitesnake, Gunners and WASP?

Simple fans= OZ music fans, they have know idea what good music sounds like or what it should be, don't take my word for it, just look at the interest the rest of the world is showing:lol: even Naru wouldn't take them. Keep telling yourself that mate, at the end of the day you all know that i'm right:cool:

fuggen who?

Extremely influential metal act in the 80's and regarded by many as one of the most original groups in the era, extremely talented, great lyrically and a massive loyal fan base, listen to the crimson idol cc by them, a piece of art, magnificant concept. Probably one group you may like out of the era cross between Alice Cooper and Sabbath.

dokken?
fuggen who?

Never heard of George Lynch have you?

Just for Ron.
This is a blurb from enough rope last night.

TIM ROGERS: I didn’t get to see KISS, no, which I brought up with Gene Simmons when I met him. I met Gene in a dressing room at eh a HG and Roy show, one of their shows and all the time while he was chatting to me, Andy our manager and base player set it up. He was like oh Tim come and get your make up. I said no, no. He said no, come and get your make up now and I walked in and there’s Gene, you know who took up a lot of my childhood and introduced myself to him and he was lovely. You Am I, hmm, what does You Am I mean? Talking about that and he was telling me how hellish it was flying first class from Los Angeles to Sydney. I couldn’t really contribute to that conversation but all the time while he was talking to me he was stroking the hair of a, of the make-up assistant uh who was there on work experience. And she was maybe about 17. I didn’t know I didn’t think it was a filial thing or eh for it seemed to be a little. Anyway it was a lovely chat apart from that element of it. But I wrote a song for him. It was called Letter to Gene and it was talking about that I spent so much of my childhood looking up to you and I don’t know whether you’re in it for the music.

ANDREW DENTON: That’s right. You said is it all about the money?

TIM ROGERS: Yeah you come across as someone being more about the finances and he wrote in an Australian I think in a heavy metal mag he they asked him for his top five records of the year and he put Tim Rogers, this record that I wrote, including that song, but in his review of it he said Tim, if you have a problem with any of the money I’m making any of the money that you make on tour, you can send it to this address: Gene Simmons, PO Box, which was beautiful

My favourite part of the interview when he was talking about touring with the Stones and the Who:

ANDREW DENTON: You got to support the Stones and also the Who, amongst others. What did you want to learn from them when you were observing them up close?

TIM ROGERS: My favourite moment was with the the there’s a Stones and a Who one but the Stones one was we were there was a time allotted when we were to meet them and after watching from a distance Mick working the backstage room and he was just he was like a politician. I know it’s been said about Mick before but he was just a pro and then but we were chaperoned into this room and and nervously kind of and said oh well the Stones will come by and will you know hang out for a little while. When they sort of burst through door, particularly Keith it was like he knew that he had to be Keith for us. It was like his little gift to us was to burst through the hey, my boys, all right, yeah, man. Yeah. And he was must have known how much that would mean to us rather than coming in you know hello, how are you? Keith Richards, yeah, you know. You know bugger off kind of thing, that he really was that generous that he could do that for us.

ANDREW DENTON: And were you flattered that he was putting on Keith Richards for you?

TIM ROGERS: Yeah.

Laughter

ANDREW DENTON: Yeah

TIM ROGERS: The Who one was just like that as well that after we played the show and we were going to meet up with them that night and Dave and I were a little bit I guess a little bit overawed. I mean the Pete Townsend thing looms pretty heavy. I mean I’ve never actually listened to them, I don’t know what they do at all. And so Davy and I went for a little bit of Dutch courage across the road and when we came back Rusty s-seemed to have his arm against the wall and Pete Townsend was just chatting to him and they were talking about beat groups of the ‘60s that we both loved. And eh Pete just swung around, hey, you’re the You Am I guy and I’m like yeah, yeah. My son really flipping loves your band. Thanks, Pete Townsend, the guy I’ve been watching since I was ten. It was another case that the bigger bands that you tour with they’re wonderful and generous and the O-Oasis guys and Soundgarden all those bands, they’re wonderful and it’s the middle you know the middling bands who are total bitches. Rock bands are the biggest bitchingest, whiniest group of drop punts you could ever and it tends to be if they’re not they’re down there. I mean ourselves included: we’re bitches. Oh did you see what he’s wearing?

For mine, You Am I are the biggest dissapointments of Oz Rock.

Their debut album, Sound As Ever was one of the best debuts by an Aussie band ever, won a heap of ARIA awards and got high rotation on Triple J as part of the collective grunge movement. It rates in my top ten albums of all time.

Unfortunately, Tim Rogers caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and thought he was John Lennon circa 68.They have been rubbish ever since and I projectile vomit whenever I hear their umpteenth 3 chord drivel.
