Worst buys for the Warriors

Denan Kemp - Was promised goal kicking job for him to come over. Supposedly just missed out to Denan Kemp for QLD debut. Was sh*t for Warriors

or Joel Moon - Supposed next coming of Lockyer. Was promised no.6 jersey and in the end couldnt even cement a jersey with a number between 1-17.

the 2nd coming of Stacey Jones. Lost Fien, Witt & Liam Foran as a result as well as a season.

The replacement of Witt and Fien killed the Warriors for a long time until we got Seymour and Maloney to fill in the gap that should never have been there in the first place.

If theres anything I don't like Cleary for, its that.

After that screw-up Cleary should have been sacked. Any strong CEO would have shown him the door and appointed a caretaker - or better yet appointed Bennett.

Seymour is right up there with the worst. Over rated hack.

That's ridiculous, he was giving us solid returns before the emergence of Johnson. Turned things around for us after the horror year with Stacey at 7.

 The mindless Cleary bash continues! Turning us from bumblers into regular top 8 material is just unacceptable. Lets magically 'appoint' Bennett because a guy like him wouldn't be in demand already, problem solved.

Mark Robinson is a bit harsh. He was only on a short term contract in between union contracts... he only got the one game, and I thought he went ok for a league debutant.

Ones that spring to mind for me, Marc Carter, Matt Jobson (Logan Swann went after what I thought was close to his best year, and Jobson was his replacement)... I'd probably consider Grant Young, Tyran Smith and Kevin Iro, all had done great things elsewhere or in Grant's case exploded onto the scene strongly, all seemed to have a bad case of butter fingers when they played for the Warriors... The likes of Matt Spence and Scott Coxon were fairly ho-hum signings too.

I thought Marc Carter did reasonably well in such a short space of time. Look at Brad Thorn, it took him a number of seasons to master union.

Marc Ellis though was a joke, I still remember when he got globbered by Gordon Tallis - the look on his face was one of "what the f*Ck just hit me?" hahaha priceless moment I will never forget...

But we'll never now how much of the 2009 debacle was down to the impact of the Sonny Fai's loss on the playing group, they were clearly devastated at the start of the season and I think a lot of hearts just weren't in it that year.

Bullseye, Space Monkey. Hopeless situation.

I actually feel really sorry for Jones for the shit he copped that season TBH. Sure he probably wasn't up to it but he didn't deserve to be pretty much blamed for the whole failed season.

Total agreement.

The guy tried to help out his club and was ripped to shreds.

Yes, yes and yes.

It's probably only this year that we've recovered in the centres. Fai would be a major star in midfield right now. Big, strong and fast, and I think he could tackle, yes? He was a young Kevin Iro all over again.

The curse of Bethal's Beach. Anyone know how his brother is doing? (the one he rescued?)

Hard to disagree with that. We were crap all over the park and all of a sudden rubbish media outlets are talking about him muddying his legacy, the reason for our decline, why did he come back etc. Hell he was asked, who is going to turn down another shot at the big-time? Ivan didn't cop enough for that year, thankfully he turned it around.

What about worst sell? At the time it seemed certain to be Brent Webb, I remember people turning around in their seats and abusing Scurrah for letting him go.

He was mishandled, Jones should have been coming off the bench every week to provide a bit of spark in #7 while rotating Fien to #9 in with Hendo. This is the role Rovelli was playing and it was working in 2008. Our halves were settled and performing with Fien and Witt but the management somehow decided that Jones-Moon (a centre) was the way to go.

If there's any period I fault Cleary, its his handling of the players that year. Thankfully Seymour and Maloney were recruited to get us back on track in 2010.
